The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Robbery

A man reportedly punched a female acquaintance on the sidewalk and then stole her phone at 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 16 on the 1900 block of Church Street. Police said the 18-year-old victim told them the man approached her and her friend and told her, “You owe me money. Give me my money.” She denied owing him money, so he punched her in the head and took her HTC Evo cell phone. The suspect is reportedly a black man about 6-foot-1, 185 pounds and 27 years old. The victim also told police she saw the man hand his friend a pistol before approaching her. The gun was not used in the robbery.
