Police Blotter Dec. 29: String of Burglaries Hits Five Cars in Central Evanston; Acura Stolen

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Burglary

Five cars were busted into through the passenger window and burglarized in the overnight hours Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in central Evanston:

A yellow iPod nano worth $100 was stolen from a blue 2009 Ford Focus sedan between 12:01 a.m. and 8:04 a.m. Wednesday on the 1200 block of Elmwood Avenue.

A Garmin GPS device worth $150 and $4 in coins were stolen from a red 2005 Saturn Ion between 9 p.m. on Tuesday and 7 a.m. on Wednesday on the 1300 block of Oak Avenue.

Four dollars in loose change and a Portillos gift card were stolen from a black 2007 Nissan Sentra sedan between 10 p.m. on Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday on the corner of Oak Avenue and Greenwood Street.

A small amount of change was reported stolen from a black 2008 Volkswagen GTI at 6:34 a.m. on Wednesday on the corner of Oak Avenue and Greenwood Street.

A black 2000 Chevy Malibu also had its window broken out between 12:01 a.m. and 8:37 a.m. on Wednesday on the 1000 block of Crain Street, but nothing was taken.

Theft

A white, four-door 2004 Acura TSX was stolen off the street between 5:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Wednesday on the 800 block of Hinman Avenue.

Domestic Battery

A 26-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic battery at 11 a.m. on Monday on the 700 block of Hinman Avenue. His court date is set for Jan. 12.

 

Vandalism

The First Bank & Trust was marked up with graffiti between 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday and 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday on the 800 block of Emerson Street.

Graffiti was sprayed on the sidewalk of the 800 block of Emerson Street between 12:31 p.m. on Tuesday and 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday.
