Police Blotter Feb. 23: Aluminum Downspout Stolen; Homeless Man Charged with Vandalism
A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.
The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Theft
Someone stole a 4-foot piece of aluminum downspout laying next to a house on the 500 block of Sherman Avenue betwee 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 17 and 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 18. Police said the piece was likely stolen to sell as scrap metal.

Two teenage boys came into the gas station convenience store at 8:41 p.m. on Feb. 22 on the 100 block of Chicago Avenue and stole a box of fruit snacks.

Criminal Damage to Property
A homeless man was arrested after police said he threw a brick through an apartment window on Saturday afternoon. Jimmie L. Williams, 53, was charged with criminal damage to property at 12:40 p.m. on Feb. 19 on the 400 block of Main Street. Police said Williams had rang the doorbell of a woman he knew repeatedly, demanding money. He allegedly threw the brick after she refused. His court date is set for March 1.
Someone threw a brick through the front passenger window of a 1993 Buick between 12:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 20 on the 1900 block of Ridge Avenue.
Someone slashed the tires of a 1997 Nissan parked on the 600 block of Colfax Avenue between 11 p.m. on Feb. 21 and noon on Feb. 22.
The tires of a 2004 Honda were punctured on Feb. 22 on the 600 block of Colfax Avenue.
Burglary
A Pioneer car stereo was ripped out of an unlocked 1997 Honda between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Feb. 15 on the 2100 block of Ashland Avenue.
Trespassing
A 13-year-old Chicago resident was arrested and charged with trespassing at 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Subway restaurant on the 300 block of Howard Street.
Marijuana Possession
Justin R. Pelzer, 27, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 4:23 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Dunkin' Donuts on the 1900 block of Dempster Street. His court date is set for March 9.
