Police Blotter July 22: Boys Ransack Brown Avenue Home; Gun Reported at McDonald's

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Burglary

A woman came home to her house on the 1700 block of Brown Avenue to find it ransacked at 7:10 p.m. A girl who came home with her noticed a boy she knew run out with a group of other boys. The main suspect is a black male about 10 years old, 4-foot tall and 90 pounds.

Man with Gun

An anonymous man called Skokie Police claiming someone had a gun at the McDonald's Restaurant on the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 12:48 p.m. on July 21. Evanston Police checked the restaurant, but there was no signs of alarm and no one interviewed knew anything about it. Police said it may have been a hoax.

 

Domestic Battery

A 24-year-old Evanston woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 5:20 p.m. on July 20 on the 100 block of Dewey Avenue. Her court date is set for July 27.

 

Driving under the Influence 

Eliza R. Epstein, 23, of Skokie was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 2:11 a.m. on July 21 on the 1300 block of Lake Street. Her court date is set for Aug. 31.

 

Vandalism

The Metra right-of-way was tagged with graffiti at 8:38 a.m. on June 21 at the corner of Lincoln Street and Green Bay Road.

The CTA right-of-way was tagged with graffiti at 3:42 p.m. on July 21 on the 900 block of Noyes Street.

 

Driving without a License

Anthony Sturkey, 28, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 11:13 p.m. on July 21 on the 7500 block of North Clark Street in Chicago. His court date is set for Aug. 24.
