Police Blotter July 25: Stolen Pickup Truck Set Afire; Teen Caught with 9mm Pistol

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Arson

A stolen white 1996 Dodge Ram pickup truck was set on fire at 10:50 p.m. in an alley of the 1700 block of Grey Avenue on July 23. The truck had been reported stolen from Libertyville. A man ran from the scene. He was described as a black male about 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds in black clothing. The Evanston Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

Unlawful Use of Weapon

An Evanston teen allegedly dropped a 9-millimeter pistol while running from police at 11:23 p.m. on July 21 on the 1400 block of Pitner Avenue. Police said a pair of plain-clothes police stopped to interview four subjects in a car when Parrish L. Livingston, 19, got out of the car and began running. He then tossed the handgun, and put his hands in the air to surrender. Livingston was arrested and charged with two felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon and a misdemeanor count of no gun-owner's identification card. His court date is set for Aug. 18.

A 15-year-old Chicago resident was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon at 4:21 p.m. on July 24 on the 100 block of Ridge Avenue.

 

Sex Abuse

Antonio Oliveros Jr., 22, of Chicago was arrested and charged with criminal sexual abuse at 1:18 p.m. on July 20 on the 2000 block of West Touhy Avenue in Chicago. His court date is set for Aug. 8.

 

Battery

A woman hit someone at 12:37 p.m. on July 23 on the 1500 block of Oakton Avenue. The suspect is a black woman about 5-foot-4 and 180 pounds.

Somone was struck in the mouth at noon on July 21 at the corner of Mulford Street and Custer Avenue.

 

Disorderly Conduct

Craig T. McGee, 27, of Evanston was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at 3:30 a.m. on July 23 on the 100 block of Asbury Avenue. His court date is set for Aug. 5.

 

Burglary

A burglar removed the hinges off a garage door and stole a Trek bicycle and a red and black Bell bicycle at 10:04 a.m. on July 23 on the 1500 block of Wesley Avenue.

A burglar broke into an unlocked 1992 Honda between 5:30 a.m. and 6:39 a.m. on July 22 on the 900 block of Grey Avenue. Longues yellow gold men's jewelry, Robbin's Reward yellow gold women's jewelry and a backpack were stolen from the car.

A purse was stolen from an open window of a 2006 Jeep while it was parked at a service station on the 1900 block of Green Bay Road at 8 a.m. on July 22.

Cash and an Audiovox DVD player were stolen from an unlocked 2008 Jeep between 5 p.m. on July 23 and 10 a.m. on July 24 on the 1500 block of Grove Street.

A wallet was stolen out of an unlocked 2006 Dodge between 2:54 p.m. and 3:54 p.m. on July 24 on the 700 block of Howard Street.

 

Theft

Freddie J. Washington, 57, of Chicago was arrested and charged with identity theft at 8:19 p.m. on July 20 at Office Depot on the 2700 block of Green Bay Road.

A man in a 2003 Lincoln Continental stole gasoline from a service station on the 1900 block of Green Bay Road at 10:35 a.m. on July 22.

A backpack with a Sony laptop computer and a Samsung cell phone was stolen from a restaurant on the 800 block of Grove Street at 2:45 a.m. on July 24.

A gray boys' DMX bicycle, car speakers and a big red bicycle were stolen from an apartment common area at 6:34 p.m. on July 22 on the 1800 block of Dempster Street.

A stereo system and a mixer were stolen from an apartment at 7:39 p.m. between March 11 and July 22. The victim believes a known male subject is responsible.

A bracelet was stolen from a store on the 1600 block of Maple Avenue at 2:24 p.m. on July 22.

A man and a woman stole alcohol from the Dominick's grocery on the 1900 block of Dempster street at 7:33 p.m. on July 20.

A man and a woman stole alcohol from the Dominick's grocery on the 1900 block of Dempster street at 5:05 p.m. on July 21.

A 16-year-old Chicago resident was arrested and charged with retail theft at 7:11 p.m. on July 22 at Dominick's grocery on the 1900 block of Dempster Street.

A locked Schwinn bicycle was stolen on the 600 block of Main Street at 8:05 p.m. on July 22.

A minor about 4-foot-8 and 85 pounds reportedly stole a red and blue Huffy Rockit bicycle out of someone's yard at noon on July 21 on the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue. The bike was later recovered.

Two males stole an unlocked Fuji bicycle from someone's lawn at 2:35 p.m. on July 22 on the 800 block of South Boulevard.

An unlocked blue Trek bicycle was stolen from a lawn at 10:30 a.m. on July 24 on the 400 block of Greenwood Street.

An unlocked Diamondback bicycle was stolen at 2:15 p.m. on July 23 on the 1700 block of Greenwood Street.

 

Vandalism

An apartment window was allegedly smashed by a known offender, a black minor about 4-foot-8 and 105 pounds.

The windshield of a 1999 Dodge was smashed between 9:30 p.m. on July 23 and 7:45 a.m. on July 24 on the 900 block of Brummel Street.

Two men slashed the tires of a 2011 Nissan at 9:21 p.m. on July 24 on the 1700 block of Brown Avenue.

A park on the 300 block of Sheridan Road was tagged with black spray paint between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on July 23.

A business was found tagged with blue spray paint at 7:51 a.m. on July 22 on the 1700 block of Howard Street.

A second business was found tagged with blue spray paint at 8:14 a.m. on July 22 on the 1700 block of Howard Street.

 

Marijuana Possession

Joseph S. Genualdi, 18, of Evanston and Norberto Infante, 18, of Skokie were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 12:12 a.m. on July 24 on the 1500 block of Colfax Street. Their court dates are set for Aug. 10.

Antonio Scott, 20, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 10:39 p.m. on July 24 on the 1400 block of Brown Avenue. At the same time, Carlton E. Preister, 21, of Skokie and Charles R. Jones, 26, of Skokie were arrested and charged with possession of an open alcohol container on public property. Alton B. Belcher-Brown, 19, of Evanston was also arrested and charged with underage possession of alcohol. The court date for Preister and Jones is set for Aug. 19 and the court date for Belcher-Brown and Scott is set for Aug. 24.

 

Driving without a License

Pierce F. Andrews, 41, of Skokie was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 5:30 p.m. on July 21 on the 7500 block of North California Avenue in Chicago. His court date is set for Aug. 12.

Steven M. Bush, 21, of Maywood was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 2:07 a.m. on July 25 on the 100 block of Chicago Avenue. His court date is set for Aug. 31.

Elisheba J. Morales, 26, of Skokie was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 7:35 p.m. on July 23 at the Evanston Police Station. Her court date is set for Sept. 8.

Tomas Perez-Martinez, 21, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 12:54 a.m. on July 25 on the 200 block of Main Street. His court date is set for Aug. 12.

Lawrence T. Townsend, 33, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 6:43 p.m. on July 21 on the 400 block of Howard Street. His court date is set for Aug. 12.

 

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Bernard Sayles, 56, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 12:56 a.m. on July 25 on the 1800 block of Darrow Avenue. His court date is set for Aug. 19.

 

Public Indecency

Richard S. Bowes, 26, of Chicago was arrested and charged with public indecency at 9:26 p.m. on July 24 on the 300 block of Dodge Avenue. His court date is set for Aug. 19.

 

Shots Fired

Three gun shots were reported at 10:24 a.m. on July 22 on the 1300 block of Dodge Avenue.

A gun shot was heard at 11:38 p.m. on July 22 on the 2300 block of Noyes Court.

 

Tobacco Possession

A 15-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with tobacco possession at 3:50 p.m. on July 22.
