Police Blotter July 27: Trio Charged in Battery; Burglary Suspect Arrested

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Battery

Someone was knocked on the ground and allegedly stomped on by a man and a pair of women from Evanston at 7:15 p.m. on July 26 on the 1700 block of Darrow Avenue. Police arrested Kim R. Hill, 37; Karia S. Perrin, 38; and Nicholas B. Seals, 32, on the 1700 block of Lyons Avenue. Their court date is set for Aug. 24.

A woman allegedly attacked someone at 9:17 p.m. on July 25 on the 2100 block of Dewey Avenue. The suspect is a black woman about 5-foot-8 and 130 pounds.

Burglary

Shawn Rashidi, 21, of Chicago was arrested and charged with burglary at 7:15 a.m. on July 25 on the 700 block of Ridge Avenue. His court date is set for Aug. 8.

Someone broke into a retirement home and stole a dresser drawer that contained Hermes cologne and jewelry on the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue. The drawer was noticed missing at 4:15 p.m. on July 26.

Someone broke into an unlocked 2010 Toyota that was parked in the driveway of a home on the 1800 block of Grant Street between 8:30 a.m. on July 25 and 9:10 a.m. on July 26. The burglar took an Acer Aspire laptop computer.

Someone broke into an unlocked 2009 Infiniti parked on the street on the 2200 block of Harrison Street and stole a black leather wallet between 10 p.m. on July 25 and 8 a.m. on July 26.

A burglar went into a garage on the 1800 block of Hartrey Avenue and stole an air compressor, a Schwinn bicycle and a Magnum bicycle on July 26. The owner noticed them missing at 8:03 p.m.

Someone broke into an unlocked 2006 Ford parked on the street on the 2700 block of Lincolnwood Drive and stole some checks and a Garmin GPS at 9 p.m. on July 25.

Someone opened a garage by using the opener in a 2008 Toyota and then stole a silver Trek 7500FX bicycle and a black EX7 bicycle between 10:30 p.m. on July 25 and 8 a.m. on July 26 on the 2700 block of Harrison Street.

A burglar reached through an unlocked window of a 2011 Mazda and stole a black Garmin GPS between 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on July 26 on the 600 block of Garrett Place.

Someone broke into an unlocked 2010 Toyota between 8 p.m. on July 25 and 8 a.m. on July 26 on the 2700 block of Harrison Street, but nothing was taken.

 

Theft

A Chicago woman allegedly stole food from the Jewel-Osco on the 2400 block of Howard Street at 12:21 p.m. on July 26. Danielle L. Ramoska, 42, was arrested and charged with retail theft. Her court date is set for Aug. 10.

An Evanston teenager allegedly stole liquor from the Jewel-Osco on the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 9:53 p.m. on July 26. William M. Dobbs, 19, was arrested and charged with retail theft. His court date is set for Aug. 31.

Somone stole a lifeguard chair from the beach on the 1200 block of Lake Shore Boulevard after hours between 7:10 p.m. on July 25 and 7:10 p.m. on July 26.

A locked navy blue specialized, 54-centimeter Allez road bike was stolen off a rack on the 1700 block of Orrington Avenue at 7:50 p.m. on July 26.

A locked 21-inch cream-colored bicycle was stolen at 7 a.m. on July 22 on the 800 block of Dobson Street.

A black Puma cruiser was stolen from a driveway on the 1300 block of Lake Street at 7 p.m. on July 26.

A black Giant bicycle was stolen out of a lawn between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. on July 26 on the 2200 block of Orrington Avenue.

A man reportedly attempted to steal something from Barnes & Noble on the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue at 12:20 p.m. on July 26. The suspect is a black man about 6-foot-2.

 

Vandalism

A man broke a window pane of an apartment at 6:50 p.m. on July 26 on the 100 block of Custer Avenue.

 

Driving under the Influence

Maria C. Roxas, 45, of Skokie was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:15 a.m. on July 27 on the 400 block of Sheridan Road. Her court date is set for Aug. 31.

 

Shots Fired

Gun shots were head at 12:09 a.m. on July 26 on the 1700 block of Brown Avenue.

 

License Violation

Tommy L. Anderson, 51, of Evanston was arrested and charged with a license violation at 6:30 a.m. on July 26 on the 1800 block of Lyons Avenue. His court date is set for Aug. 2.
