Police Blotter July 7: Senior Citizens Caught Shoplifting at Home Depot; Honda Stolen, Chevrolet Set On Fire

Assault
A Skokie man allegedly struck a female acquaintance and when police arrived, he allegedly threatened and swung his fists at them. Shami O. Cox, 19, of Skokie was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at 1:35 a.m. on July 6 on the 1800 block of Church Street. His court date is set for Aug. 5.

Someone was hit in the face by a man the person knew at 10:27 p.m. on July 6 on the 1600 block of Benson Avenue.
Theft
A pair of senior citizens allegedly stole a brass valve, compost seeds, a magazine and a flame protector from the Home Depot hardware superstore on the 2300 block of Oakton Street at 3:45 p.m. on June 30. Norman N. Kishtani, 66, of Chicago and Noelle H. Yezeguiel, 76, of Chicago were arrested and charged with shoplifting. The total value of the items taken is $60. Their court date is set for Aug. 10.
A man was seen stealing a maroon 1993 Honda sedan off the street at 9:40 p.m. on July 6 on the 100 block of Clyde Avenue.
Someone walked into the Frances Willard House Museum and stole a silver Compaq laptop computer between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on July 6 on the 1700 block of Chicago Avenue.
Someone went to the Midas Auto Service lot while the business was closed and stole a wheel. It happened between 8:30 p.m. on July 5 and 7:30 a.m. on July 6 on the 2400 block of Dempster Street.
Someone stole perfume and personal items from an apartment building common area between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on July 1 on the 400 block of Callan Avenue.
A locked white Bridgestone boys bicycle was ripped off a bike rack at 8 p.m. on July 6 on the 900 block of Davis Street.
A locked Trek bicycle was stolen off a rack at 4:15 p.m. on July 6 on the 1400 block of Sheridan Road.
A blue and white Avalon Next bicycle locked to a street sign was stolen between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on July 6 on the 2400 block of Lincoln Street.
An unlocked orange and black Thurster bicycle was stolen off a sidewalk on the 1900 block of Church Street at 7:36 p.m. on July 6.
A license plate sticker was reported stolen off a car at 6:48 p.m. on July 6 on the 2700 block of Colfax Street.
Burglary
A man climbed onto a screen porch to activate a garage door opener and steal a Navy blue Fuji Platinum bicycle at 11:22 p.m. on July 1 on the 1200 block of Noyes Street.
A blue Next bicycle was stolen from a garage at 9 p.m. on July 5 on the 700 block of Dobson Street.
A man stole a silver Trek bicycle and a blue and silver bicycle out of an unlocked garage at 8:37 p.m. on July 6 on the 800 Madison Street. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds.
A resident came home to find an intruder leaving the house, but nothing was taken at 1:40 p.m. on July 6 on the 1700 block of Grey Avenue. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-6.
Vandalism
A man set a 2003 Chevrolet on fire at 9:43 p.m. on July 6 on the 1900 block of Grey Avenue. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-10.
An apartment window as found broken out at 1:31 p.m. on July 6 on the 1900 block of Howard Street.
Someone dented a sliding rear door to a 2005 Dodge van between 10 p.m. on July 5 and 7 a.m. on July 6 on the 1400 block of Darrow Street.
A mailbox was hit with graffiti at 7 a.m. on July 6 on the corner of Linden Place and Custer Avenue.
Graffiti was found on a light pole at 1:30 p.m. on July 6 on the corner of Central Street and Bryant Avenue.
Domestic Battery
A 46-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 4 p.m. on July 5 at the Evanston Police Station. His court date is set for July 20.
Driving without a License
George L. Brown, 29, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 9:38 a.m. on July 5 on the 1100 block of Howard Street. His court date is set for Aug. 10.
Shah A. Mohammed, 25, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 4:45 p.m. on July 6 on the 600 block of Howard Street.
Shots Fired
Five gun shots were fired at 10:30 p.m. on July 6 on the 100 block of Grey Avenue.
