Police Blotter June 24: Shoplifters Hit Delta Discount and North Evanston 7-Eleven

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Theft

Two men stole clothing from the Delta Discount Store at 2:53 p.m. on June 23 on the 800 block of Main Street. The clerk told police that he saw three men enter the store, and two stuff clothing on their person before running north up Sherman Avenue. The suspects are black men about 5-foot-8 between 18 and 20 years of age. They were wearing T-shirts and trousers.

A man stole a dozen PlayStation 3 and X-Box video games from the 7-Eleven on the 2500 block of Ewing Avenue on June 21. Police said the man was caught on camera stuffing six games in his waistband as a clerk was distracted at 7:53 a.m. He later came back and stole six more games at 8:40 a.m. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-8 and 200 pounds between 25 and 30 years old. He wore a white and gray striped polo shirt and blue jeans.

A locked Swobo bicycle was stolen between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. on June 22 on the 2100 block of Ridge Avenue.

An unlocked Bratz bicycle was stolen out of someone's yard between 5 p.m. on June 22 and 3:30 p.m. on June 23 on the 1800 block of Foster Street.

 

Child Endangerment

Beth R. Harris, 30, of Evanston was arrested and charged with endangering the life or health of a child at 6:10 a.m. on June 19 on the 1200 block of Dempster Street. Her court date is set for July 29.

 

Burglary

Someone broke out a window on a 2002 Buick and stole a headlamp car part between 7 p.m. on June 22 and 5 p.m. on June 23 on the 2100 block of Darrow Avenue.

 

Vandalism

A woman was caught on camera ripping sidewalk plants out of their pots and hurling them to the ground at 4:31 p.m. on June 20 on the 700 block of Howard Street.

A garage was marked up with graffiti between 8 p.m. on June 20 and noon on June 23 on the 2500 block of Ashland Avenue.

 

Domestic Battery

A 22-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 7:30 p.m. on June 22 on the 1000 block of Dewey Avenue. His court date is set for June 29.

A 54-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 3:54 p.m. on June 21 on the 200 block of Ridge Avenue. His court date is set for June 29.

 

Arrest Warrant

Thomas J. Maolne, 27, of Evanston was arrested on a warrant at 11:35 a.m. on June 21 on the 1600 block of Florence Avenue.

 

Driving without a License

Antonio Gomez, 41, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 4:05 p.m. on June 22 on the 400 block of Dodge Avenue. His court date is set for July 12.

Tyler L. Thompson, 27, of Barrington was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 7 p.m. on June 23 on the 600 block of Chicago Avenue. His court date is set for July 8.
