Police Blotter March 11: Arrests Made on Burglary, Theft Charges

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Burglary

Vernon H. Quinn Jr., 43, of Chicago was arrested and charged with burglary at 1:15 a.m. on March 10 in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue. His court date is set for March 22.

Suspects entered an apartment building between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on March 10 on the 700 block of Hinman Avenue through an unlocked back door. Once inside, they knocked open a locked interior apartment door and stole a Sony PlayStation 3, an Apple iPod music player, four video games and a safe.

Theft

Kevin Lewis, 50, of Evanston was arrested and charged with theft at 4:15 p.m. on March 9 in the 1300 block of Chicago Avenue. His court date is set for April 14.

A man was seen entering the Target store on March 6 in the 2200 block of Howard Street and stealing three Polaroid cameras. The thief was an Hispanic man in his 20s who stood about 5-foot-8 and weighed about 150 pounds.

A purple Trek 1100 bicycle was locked to a bike rack with a cable lock on the 1800 block of Central Street, but was stolen anyway. The theft was reported at 5:30 p.m. on March 10.

A 13-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with theft at 10 p.m. on March 9.

Battery

Porsha C. Hamilton, 18, of Evanston was arrested and charged with battery at 2:10 p.m. on March 10 on the corner of Brown Avenue and Emerson Street. Her court date is set for March 14.

Driving without a License

Felicia A. Alford, 28, of Skokie was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 4:30 p.m. on March 9 at the intersection of Brummel Street and Dodge Avenue. Her court date is set for March 28.

Gerard P. Lietz, 40, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 4 p.m. on March 9 in the 2400 block of Lake Street. His court date is set for March 31.

Kimberly N. Williams, 29, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 5:35 p.m. on March 9 in the 600 block of Dodge Avenue. Her court date is set for March 28.
