Police Blotter March 3: Thief Rips Stereo from Unlocked Honda; Teen Caught Stealing Beer at D&D

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Burglary

A woman parked her 1996 Honda on the 800 block of Reba Place at midnight on March 2, but didn't lock the car. When she returned to the vehicle at noon on Wednesday, someone had ripped out the AM/FM cassette stereo from the Honda. Evanston Police have advised residents to lock their cars when parked overnight.

Theft

A 17-year-old Evanston boy was arrested and charged Tuesday with stealing two 24-ounce cans of LaBatt's Maximum Ice beer from D&D Finer Foods on the 800 block of Noyes Street. Police said the clerk saw him stow the cans in his coat, so police were called. When police arrived and asked the teen about the beer, he denied having them, but the beers were soon found and confiscated. The theft occurred at 1:48 p.m. on March 1.

 

Driving under the Influence

Sheria L. Walton, 41, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 2:32 a.m. on March 3 on the 100 block of Chicago Avenue. Her court date is set for March 21.

 

Driving without a License

Eric A. Sanchez, 21, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 11:25 p.m. on March 2 on the 700 block of Howard Street. His court date is set for April 21.
