Police Blotter March 30: Silver Impala Stolen; Waukegan Men Charged in Theft

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Theft

Someone stole a silver 2003 Chevrolet Impala between 2:35 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on March 29 on the 1700 block of Darrow Avenue.

Fernando Banales-Zamora, 40, of Waukegan and Tomas F. Torres, 34, of Waukegan were arrested and charged with theft at 3 p.m. on March 29 on the 3100 block of Grant Street. Their court date is set for April 21.

A package containing a Barbie doll was reported stolen from the front door of a building on the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue at 12:24 p.m. on March 24.

A 17-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with retail theft at Dominick's on the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 5:11 p.m. on March 29.

A known juvenile was allowed to enter a residence at 6:50 p.m. on March 29 on the 1800 block of Foster Street. The juvenile left after allegedly stealing an Apple iPod Touch music player at 7:10 p.m.

 

Burglary

Burglars went into a garage on the 1000 block of Main Street between 6 p.m. on March 27 and 6:15 a.m. on March 28 and stole a black 26-inch, 18-speed Cercelo triathlon road bicycle and a black 26-inch, 18-speed Cannondale Jeckel mountain bike.

A burglar broke into a business by smashing out the glass door with a brick at 5:07 a.m. on March 29 on the 2500 block of Green Bay Road. Nothing was reported missing.

 

Domestic Battery

An 18-year-old Chicago man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 10:25 p.m. on March 28 on the 7500 block of North Bell Avenue in Chicago. His court date is set for April 13.

 

Marijuana Possession

Joe N. Norman, 30, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 8:40 p.m. on March 29 on the 9400 block of McCormick Boulevard in Skokie. His court date is set for April 14.

 

Driving without a License

Narles L. Brown, 32, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 9:12 a.m. on March 29 on the 500 block of Howard Street. A court date is set for May 3.

Shelikea L. Hubbard, 36, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 10 a.m. on March 29 on the 1600 block of West Jonquil Terrace in Chicago. Her court date is set for May 3.

Jaime Meancho, 27, of Skokie was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 3:15 p.m. on March 29 on the 300 block of Howard Street. His court date is set for April 21.

LeQuisha Molette, 19, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 1:04 p.m. on March 29 on the 1000 block of McDaniel Avenue. Her court date is set for June 6.

 

Graffiti

Three pillars in the front of a building were sprayed with graffiti on the 1700 block of Central Street.

A street sign was tagged with graffiti on the 2100 block of Central Street.
