Police Blotter March 31: Foster Street Robber Had Accomplice; Man Accused of Selling Stolen Laptop

Robbery

A woman was robbed walking west from the Northwestern campus on the 700 block of Foster Street on Tuesday night. Police said she passed a man sitting on a concrete sidewall off the sidewalk at 11:37 p.m. on the north side of the street. The man followed her, then snatched her purse before running back east, where he was joined by a second man on the south side of the street. They took off in a dark, four-door vehicle parked at the corner of Orrington Avenue and Foster Street. The two men were described as black men in their 20s, about 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds. The purse contained the woman's wallet, $20, credit cards, identification and her LG cell phone.

Theft
An Evanston man has been accused of selling stolen property stemming from a burglary in Highland Park. Nibra A. White, 34, was arrested and charged with theft at the Evanston Police Station at 8:15 a.m. on March 30. Police said White knowingly sold a Sony Vio laptop for $400 that had been taken from a burglary. His buyer did not realize the laptop was stolen, police said. His court date is set for April 28.
Assault
A male acquaintance walked in front of a car on the 2000 block of Green Bay Road and made verbal threats against the people in the car at 4:05 p.m. on March 30.
A 17-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with battery at 4 p.m. on March 30 on the 400 block of Custer Avenue.
Burglary
A burglar broke into a 2007 Subaru that was parked inside a garage on the 1000 block of Ridge Avenue between 10:30 p.m. on March 29 and 7:20 a.m. on March 30.
Vandalism
A 13-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property at 3:32 p.m. on March 30.
Driving under the Influence
Elvardo D. Bain, 38, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 3:40 a.m. on March 30 on the 2100 block of Emerson Street. His court date is set for May 3.
Driving without a License
Luis A. Aguilar Jr., 23, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 12:25 a.m. on March 31 on the 200 block of Ridge Avenue. His court date is set for April 14.
Deshon V. Kellems, 35, of Westchester was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 6:21 p.m. on March 30 on the 300 block of Custer Avenue. His court date is set for April 28.
