Police Blotter May 13: Man Charged with Armed Robbery; Teen Arrested on Weapons Charge
A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.
The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Robbery

Dashawn Q. Harris, 23, of Evanston was arrested and charged with armed robbery and obstruction of justice at 3:25 p.m. on May 11 on the 100 block of Ridge Avenue. His court dates are set for May 25 on the robbery charge and June 1 on the obstruction charge.

Unlawful Use of Weapon
Wesley A. Woodson, 19, of Evanston was arrested and charged with unlawful use of weapon at 1 p.m. on May 11 on the 1700 block of Ashland Avenue. His court date is set for June 14.
Battery
A man strongly grabbed the hands of two juveniles at 5:10 p.m. on May 12 on the 300 block of Dodge Avenue. The suspect is a black man about 6-foot tall and 160 pounds.
Theft
A man allegedly tried to steal something at 7:10 a.m. on May 11 on the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue. Gary B. Robinson, 54, of Chicago was arrested and charged with retail theft. His court date is set for May 25.
A Bose Wave stereo system was stolen from an apartment building common area after it was left by the UPS in the lobby at 2:53 p.m. on May 4 on the 1100 block of Church Street.
A license plate was ripped off a 2009 BMW between 8 p.m. on May 11 and 9 a.m. on May 12 on the 700 block of Sheridan Road.
A black Apple iPhone with a purple case was stolen between 2 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. on May 12 at the Evanston Township High School on the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue.
Vandalism
Someone clipped the driver's side mirror of a 2001 Pontiac between 9 p.m. on May 11 and 5 a.m. on May 12 on the 1600 block of Crain Street.
Driving without a License
Fanklin Bryant, 22, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 7:59 p.m. on May 12 on the 100 block of Custer Avenue. His court date is set for June 1.
Shots Fired
Someone saw a man with a gun fire shots at the corner of Davis Street and Maple Avenue at 12:34 a.m. on May 12. Police found nothing at the scene.
