Police Blotter May 2: Five Assault Cases Over Weekend; Burglars Take Computer, TV, Diamond

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Battery

Two men were involved in a fight at 7:58 p.m. on April 29 at James Park on the 300 block of Dodge Avenue. The suspects were described as Hispanic men, one of them 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds and the other 5-foot-9 and 186 pounds.

A woman was charged with battery and vandalism at 6:45 p.m. on May 1 on the 800 block of Main Street.

Two men fought in the street at 3:45 p.m. on April 28 on the corner of Main Street and Sherman Avenue.

A man assaulted someone at 1:15 a.m. on April 30 on the 1300 block of Fowler Avenue.

Someone was charged with battery at 3 a.m. on May 1 on the 2200 block of Ashland Avenue.

 

Burglary

Burglars went into a house between 7:15 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. on April 29 on the 2200 block of Foster Street through an unlocked back door and stole a laptop computer, a flat-screen television, and ½ carat diamond jewelry.

Burglars entered an apartment through an unlocked kitchen window between 9 a.m. on April 30 and 7 p.m. on May 1 and stole a miniature black laptop computer, a black X-Box gaming system and Kinect video games.

A burglar broke out a window in the back of an apartment and stole a pink wallet from inside between 12:01 a.m. on April 27 and 3:29 a.m. on April 29. The suspect is a black woman about 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds.

A burglar went into a condominium on the 600 block of Hinman Avenue through an unlocked kitchen window and stole cash between midnight and 9 a.m. on May 1.

A purse, an iPhone, some cash and some personal items were stolen out of an unlocked 1997 Ford as it was parked in the parking lot of Dominick's on the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 10 p.m. on April 29.

A man tried to break into an apartment on the 500 block of Michigan Avenue by slashing at a window screen at 10:21 p.m. on April 30.

 

Theft

A man allegedly stole a bottle of vodka from Dominick's at 6:01 p.m. on April 28 on the 1900 block of Dempster Street. Bobbie A. Clark, 44, of Chicago was arrested and charged with retail theft. His court date is set for June 6.

Two men stole a navy blue T-shirt with white stripes from a store on the 900 block of Church Street at 5:41 p.m. The suspects are a white man about 6-foot-4 and 160 pounds and a white man about 5-foot-4 and 175 pounds.

A jar of jelly beans was stolen off a sidewalk table at 4:40 p.m. on May 1. The suspect is a black boy about 4-foot-8.

A black Apple iPhone was stolen from an unsecured locker at Evanston Township High School on the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue between 1:40 p.m. and 2 p.m. on April 21.

A T-Mobile cell phone was stolen out of a classroom at Evanston Township High School between 1:35 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. on April 26.

An Apple iPod Touch music player was stolen out of a locker room at 10:04 a.m. on April 29 on the 800 block of Greenleaf Street.

A license plate was ripped off a 1999 Acura parked in a lot on the 2900 block of Central Street between 5 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. on April 29.

 

Vandalism

A side door was found broken on a house on the 1800 block of Monroe Street at 11:46 p.m. on April 28.

Someone broke out a passenger window on a 2005 Chevrolet as it was parked in the lot of an apartment complex on the 900 block of Elmwood Avenue between 10 p.m. on April 29 and 10 a.m. on April 30.

A garage was found tagged with graffiti at 5:30 p.m. on April 28 on the 500 block of Dodge Avenue.

 

Disturbing the Peace

Cesario A. Cox, 21, of Skokie was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace at 2 a.m. on April 30 on the 700 block of Florence Avenue. His court date is set for May 26.

 

Domestic Battery

A woman involved in a domestic battery dispute scratched the hood of a 2000 Chrysler at 8:30 p.m. on April 29 on the 1700 block of Dobson Avenue. A 28-year-old Chicago woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 8:35 p.m. Her court date is set for May 4.

 

Drug Possession

Willie J. Jackson, 53, of Evanston was arrested and charged with drug possession at 11:34 p.m. on April 28 during a traffic stop on the 900 block of Davis Street. His court date is set for May 12.

Luis A. Rivera, 21, of Chicago and Charles J. Templin, 19, of Chicago were arrested and charged with drug possession at 8:46 p.m. on April 28 on the 2400 block of Main Street. Their court date is set for May 11.

 

Marijuana Possession

Andre X. Laden, 18, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 11:45 p.m. on April 29 on the 1400 block of Dodge Avenue. His court date is set for May 17.

 

Driving without a License

Vickie D. Daugherty, 50, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 5:12 p.m. on April 29 on the 1600 block of Dempster Street. Her court date is set for May 17.

Christopher J. Loomis, 37, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 7:30 p.m. on April 29 on the 600 block of Clark Street. His court date is set for June 8.

Miguel A. Orduno-Rogel, 25, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 6:45 p.m. on May 1 on the 100 block of Asbury Avenue. His court date is set for May 24.

Terry Williams, 47, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 11:34 p.m. on April 28 on the 900 block of Davis Street. His court date is set for May 12.

 

Open Container

Treon T. Corins, 27, of Evanston was arrested and charged with having an open alcohol conatiner at 3:22 a.m. on May 1 on the 700 block of Dobson Avenue. His court date is set for June 15.

 

Shots Fired

Shots were heard in the vicinity of the 800 block of Sheridan Road at 3:27 a.m. on May 1.

Shots were head on the 1000 block of Dodge Avenue at 12:02 a.m. on May 1.

Four or five shots were heard on the 900 block of Grey Avenue at 12:34 a.m. on May 1. The suspect stands about 5-foot-6.
