Police Blotter May 26: Man Allegedly Scares Little Girl; Maryland Woman Arrested at Urban Outfitters

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Disorderly Conduct

Joseph L. Cox, 51, of Evanston was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at 1 p.m. on May 25 on the 1900 block of Foster Street. Police said he scared a little girl as she waited to get picked up from school. He allegedly approached the girl and made a motion like he would grab her. His court date is set for July 22.

Theft

A woman reportedly stole clothes from Urban Outfitters at 5:32 p.m. on May 25 on the 900 block of Church Street. Christina H. J. Lee, 20, of West Friendship, Md., was arrested and charged with retail theft at 5:45 p.m. Police said she set off the alarm carrying $210 worth of clothes she hadn't paid for. She was detained at the door without incident. Her court date is set for July 3.

Two Apple Macbook laptop computers were stolen from Williard Elementary School at 3:35 a.m. on Feb. 22 on the 2700 block of Hurd Avenue.

A Sony laptop computer and a computer bag were stolen from the Evanston Public Library between 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. on the 1700 block of Orrington Avenue.

A white iron and six chairs were stolen from a lawn between 5:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on May 25 on the 2000 block of Dewey Avenue.

A black Apple iPod music player was stolen at the Evanston Township High School between 11:32 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. on May 25 on the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue.

 

Battery

A man hit someone at the YMCA at 4:22 p.m. on May 21 on the 1000 block of Grove Street. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-6 and 120 pounds.

A woman hit someone on the street on the 1000 block of Dodge Avenue at 4:25 p.m. on May 25. The suspect is a black woman about 5-foot-7 and 210 pounds.

A woman assaulted someone at a chain restaurant on the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 3:30 p.m. on May 25. The suspect is a black woman about 5-foot-5 and 200 pounds.

A man assaulted someone at a house on the 2000 block of Emerson Street at 9:47 p.m. on May 24.

 

Open Container

Tremayne D. Richardson, 35, of Evanston was arrested and charged with having an open alcohol container in a vehicle at 12:53 a.m. on May 26 on the 900 block of Ridge Court. His court date is set for June 15.

 

Driving without a License

Ronald N. Fleckman, 58, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 3:51 p.m. on May 21 on the 2200 block of Lake Street. His court date is set for June 27.
