Police Blotter May 3: Assault on Asbury; Burglars Take Racing Bike and Television

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Assault

Someone was assaulted at 12:07 a.m. on May 2 on the 1500 block of Asbury Avenue. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds.

Burglary

Burglars broke into an apartment through an unlocked window between 4 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on May 2 on the 800 block of Mulford Street. They stole a carbon-fiber racing bike and a black 32-inch Sony Baravo television.

Someone damaged a screen door trying to break into a house on the 500 block of Forest Avenue at 10 a.m. on April 29.

A locked door of an office building was broken into between Jan. 1 and April 26 on the 500 block of Davis Street.

 

Theft

A package was ripped open in the lobby of an apartment building on the 800 block of Forest Avenue between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on April 28.

 

Vandalism

A back window of a 2000 Mitsubishi was broken out between 7 p.m. on May 1 and 9 a.m. on May 2 on the 1900 block of Dobson Street.

Someone flipped over a wheel barrow between 7 p.m. on May 1 and 7 a.m. on May 2 on the 1200 block of Washington Street.

A fence was removed from a yard at a house on the 2100 block of Church Street at 11 a.m. on May 2.

 

Arrest Warrant

Andre D. Kennedy, 32, of Skokie was arrested on a warrant at 9 a.m. on April 28 on the 7300 block of Niles Center Road in Skokie. His court date is set for May 18.

 

Domestic Battery

A 22-year-old Evanston woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 11:59 p.m. on May 1 on the 2100 block of Sherman Avenue. Her court date is set for May 18.

A 27-year-old Evanston man and a 30-year-old Evanston woman were arrested and charged with domestic battery at 10:40 p.m. on April 28 on the 1800 block of Lake Street. Their court date is set for May 4.

A 57-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 2:15 a.m. on May 1 on the 100 block of Callan Avenue.

 

Driving without a License

William C. Giles, 46, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 4:05 p.m. on May 2 on the 1200 block of Hartrey Avenue. His court date is set for May 27.

 

Shots Fired

A shot was heard at 11:18 p.m. on May 1 on the 2300 block of Noyes Court.
