Police Blotter Nov. 18: Woman Charged with Threatening Girl; Burglars Steal $2,000 in Jewelry

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Assault

A woman allegedly threatened to stab a 15-year-old girl in front of a cop at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday on the 1800 block of Darrow Avenue. Police were driving in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue when they heard a loud commotion coming from the west. Upon arriving at the scene on the 1700 block of Brown Avenue, they noticed a large group of females arguing. Most of the women left the scene, but the 15-year-old remained, screaming at Chunice J. Moore, 19, of Evanston. Police said Moore then threatened the girl and was placed under arrest. Moore has been charged with assault and her court date is set for 1:30 p.m.

Burglary

Burglars pried open a dining room window of a house on the 2300 block of Central Park Avenue between 3:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday in a jewelry theft. The homeowner noticed the window open and then found $2,000 worth of jewelry missing from his bedroom, including a Longines watch, a Breil watch, an oval gold coral ring, 20 pairs of earrings and three gold necklaces.

Someone damaged the front passenger window of a 2003 GMC between 4:30 p.m. on Sunday and 6:15 a.m. on Monday and stole cash, a camera and the rear license plate of the truck on the 1000 block of Austin Street.

A man broke into an unlocked 1998 Mercedes-Benz at 2:52 p.m. on Thursday on the 1800 block of Darrow Avenue, but nothing was reported taken. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds.

A GPS device was stolen from an unlocked 1997 Honda between 5 p.m. on Wednesday and 9:30 a.m. on Thursday in a parking lot on the 500 block of Sheridan Road.

Theft

A Dunhill stainless steel watch was stolen from an apartment on the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

A pair of glasses and cash were stolen from the Evanston North Shore Hospital between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday on the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue.

A brown leather bi-fold wallet was stolen from a purse at the Evanston Public Library on the 1700 block of Orrington Avenue.

A locked dark green Free Spirit bicycle was stolen off the sidewalk at noon on Thursday on the 600 block of Clark Street.

An Apple iPhone 4 was reported stolen off the street at 5 p.m. on Thursday on the 1800 block of Davis Street.

 

Vandalism

The rear window of a 2006 Toyota was damaged between 3 p.m. on Nov. 12 and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday on the 100 block of Clyde Avenue.

The front passenger window of a 2010 Honda was damaged between 5 p.m. on Sunday and the 6:15 a.m. on Monday on the 1000 block of Austin Street.

Calvary Cemetery was tagged with graffiti between 4 p.m. on Monday and 8:44 a.m. on Tuesday on the 500 block of South Boulevard.

James Park was sprayed with blue graffiti between 9:56 a.m. on Nov. 8 and 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 9 on the 300 block of Dodge Avenue.

Driving under the Influence

Danielle A. Elvira, 21, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:55 a.m. today on the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue. Her court date is set for Dec. 21.

 

Driving without a License

Paul A. Abbott, 47, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 5:36 p.m. on Wednesday on the corner of Simpson Street and Central Park Avenue. His court date is set for Dec. 21.

Amanda M. Bodon, 23, of Skokie was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 5:33 p.m. on Thursday on the 500 block of Sherman Avenue. Her court date is set for Dec. 21.

Dominguez R. A. Rodriguez, 20, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 1 a.m. today on the 900 block of Howard Street. His court date is set for Dec. 14.

Leonard S. Taylor, 22, of Waukegan was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday. His court date is set for Dec. 29.
