Police Blotter Nov. 21: Man Arrested After Flashing Gang Signs; Burglar Stopped on Street

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Disorderly Conduct

A Chicago man allegedly flashed the gang signs of the Gangster Disciples at Evanston Police while crossing Howard Street on Saturday and was arrested. Quentin O. Smith, 20, was charged with disorderly conduct at 7:32 p.m. on Saturday on the 700 block of Howard Street. Police said he flashed the pitchfork-down symbol with his hands five times at police as he was crossing Howard at Damen Avenue in Chicago to Custer Avenue in Evanston. He was arrested and placed in the car where police said he told them, “You all f----- up. You'll find out tomorrow. You can put that down as a threat.” His court date is set for Dec. 2.

Burglary

An Evanston man was arrested after police said he burglarized a garage on the 1100 block of Sheridan Road and stole coins from the car. Patrick J. Gordon, 46, was arrested and charged with burglary at 9:35 p.m. on Friday on the 300 block of Hamilton Street. Police confiscated $15.91 from Gordon. He was stopped on the street after police said he matched the description the victim gave. Once stopped, he gave evasive, nonsensical answers to the police. His court date is set for Dec. 1.

Someone stole a 100-foot extension cord from a garage on the 1400 block of Cleveland Street between 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 14 and 6 p.m. on Nov. 15. The overhead door had been broken.

Someone broke out a side window of a 2008 Honda and stole a Garmin GPS device between 10 p.m. on Wednesday and 5 a.m. on Thursday on the 200 block of Asbury Avenue.

A set of keys were stolen from an unlocked 2004 Honda between 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Saturday on the 1700 block of Benson Avenue. The keys were later recovered.

 

Theft

A man stole a silver 2004 Toyota Corolla sedan that had been left running at 8:32 p.m. on Friday on the 300 block of Callan Avenue.

A man stole a statue from the Century Cinema at 1:45 a.m. on Nov. 11 on the 1700 block of Maple Avenue.

A man stole cash from a music theater office on the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

A 17-year-old Morton Grove resident and a 17-year-old Park Forest resident were arrested and charged with retail theft at 5:40 p.m. on Friday at Target on the 2200 block of Howard Street.

 

Assault

A male assaulted someone at the Evanston Township High School at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday on the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue. The suspect is a black male about 5-foot-4 and 135 pounds.

 

Vandalism

An apartment door was damaged between Oct. 15 and 9 a.m. on Sunday on the 900 block of Hinman Avenue.

Someone smashed the windshield of a 2005 Acura with a garbage can at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday on the 900 block of Hinman Avenue.

A 17-year-old Evanston resident was arrested at 3:14 a.m. on Sunday on the 2500 block of Grant Street.

 

Driving under the Influence

Dustin T. Bowie, 29, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 12:54 a.m. on Saturday on the 2000 block of Ridge Avenue. His court date is set for Dec. 29.

 

Driving without a License

Misti L. De Leon, 32, of Skokie was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 8:51 a.m. on Friday on the 300 block of Dodge Avenue. Her court date is set for Dec. 23.

Aaron D. Morales, 33, of Skokie was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 8:03 p.m. on Sunday on the 2200 block of Church Street. His court date is set for Dec. 21.

A 17-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 12:28 p.m. on Friday on the 1000 block of Dodge Avenue.

 

Marijuana Possession

Samuel N. Hudgeons, 18, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 11:45 p.m. on Sunday on the 1000 block of Greenwood Street. His court date is set for Dec. 16.

 

Shots Fired

Five or six gun shots were fired at 7:38 p.m. on Friday on 2200 block of Dempster Street.

Five gun shots were fired at 2:56 a.m. on Sunday on the 300 block of Custer Avenue.

 

Open Container

Ferris A. Bonnet, 26, of Evanston was arrested and charged with an open alcohol container in public at 9 p.m. on Sunday on the 2200 block of Emerson Street. A court date is set for Dec.16.

Jeffrey A. Hardin, 46, of Evanston was arrested and charged with an open alcohol container in public at 1:35 a.m. on Friday on the 1900 block of Foster Street. His court date is set for Dec. 2.

 

Underage Consumption

Fanny E. Feldman, 20, and Mackenzie D. Wade, 19, both of Evanston, were arrested and charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor at 3:35 a.m. on Sunday on the corner of Grant Avenue and Bennett Street. Their court date is set for Dec. 21.
