Police Blotter Nov. 28: Pedestrian Smashes Windshield of Passing Car; Burglars Loot Reba Place Garage

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

A man was driving his 2002 Saab east on the 1800 block of Dempster Street when he stopped for a man standing in the street. The pedestrian then took his baseball bat and smashed the windshield of the Saab before the driver managed to speed off. The suspect is a male subject about 5-foot-10 in dark clothing and a black ski mask.

An arrow was found stuck in a second-floor window at 3:22 a.m. on Sunday on the 2200 block of Lyons Street.

A man reportedly flattened the tires of a 2005 Chevy between 8 p.m. on Thursday and 9:30 a.m. on Friday on the 1100 block of Dewey Avenue. The suspect is a black man about 6-foot and 190 pounds.

The passenger windows of a 2002 BMW were shattered while it was parked on the street between 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 7:45 a.m. on Thursday on the 100 block of Asbury Avenue.

Someone marked the street with graffiti between 1:03 p.m. and 1:10 p.m. on Nov. 16 on the 600 block of Florence Avenue.

Burglary

Burglars used a tool to break into a garage door and steal a Honda snow blower, a Weber grill, a ladder and a propane tank between 4:40 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Nov. 22 on the 800 block of Reba Place.

A burglar broke out the window of a convenience store on the 800 block of Main Street and stole cigarettes and cigars at 2:09 a.m. on Friday. The suspect is a black man about 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds.

Thieves stole two black Acer laptop computers and a silver laptop computer from a business on the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue between 6 p.m. on Nov. 22 and 12:38 p.m. on Wednesday. The door had been left unlocked.

Two men stole a set of keys that were left in the car while the owner went into a store on the 800 block of Dodge Avenue at 2:27 a.m. on Friday. The suspects are Hispanic males about 6-foot tall.

A man tried to break into an apartment through the door at 12:25 p.m. on Saturday on the 100 block of Clyde Avenue.

A man reportedly broke into an unlocked 2001 Infiniti at 7:04 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1100 block of Garnett Place, but nothing was taken. The suspect is a black man about 6-foot tall and 180 pounds.

 

Theft

Gabriel M. Janvier, 18, of Evanston was arrested and charged with retail theft at 10:20 a.m. on Friday at Target on the 2200 block of Howard Street. His court date is set for Jan. 11.

Joseph A. Young, 19, of Evanston was arrested and charged with shoplifting at 4:15 a.m. on Sunday on the 900 block of Howard Avenue. His court date is set for Dec. 21.

A man reportedly stole liquor from the Dominick's grocery store at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday on the 1900 block of Dempster Street. The suspect is a black man about 6-foot and 170 pounds.

A man reportedly stole food from the CVS/pharmacy on the 100 block of Asbury Avenue at 4:15 a.m. on Sunday. The suspect is a black man about 6-foot-2 and 160 pounds.

A man reportedly stole tile vinyl from a business on the 700 block of Howard Street between 11 p.m. on Nov. 16 and 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

More than $500 cash was stolen after it was left unattended on a counter at Jewel-Osco grocery on the 2400 block of Howard Street at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

A woman stole money from the tip jar of a restaurant on the 500 block of Main street between 2:53 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Nov. 22. The suspect is a white woman about 5-foot-4 and 140 pounds.

A man reportedly stole a package containing an Asian kitchen utensil from an apartment lobby between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 17 on the 800 block of Foster Street.

A package containing an Amazon Kindle book reader was stolen from an apartment lobby between 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday on the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue.

A package containing Amazon gift cards was stolen from in front of a house on the 2700 block of Eastwood Avenue between Nov. 15 and Wednesday.

A wallet was stolen from an unsecured gym locker at L.A. Fitness at 8:38 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue.

An unlocked Huffy bicycle was stolen from someone's lawn at 4:30 p.m. on Friday on the 900 block of Greenwood Street.

An unlocked Schwinn bicycle was reported stolen from a bike rack on the 2600 block of Orrington Avenue at 4 p.m. on Nov. 18.

A 17-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with shoplifting at Dominick's supermarket on the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 11:32 p.m. on Friday.

Sexual Abuse

Carlos Jimbo, 25, of Chicago was arrested and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse at 12:03 a.m. on Thursday on the 1500 block of Florence Avenue. His court date is set for Dec. 1.

Child Endangerment

Shaquille L. Bullock, 18, of Chicago was arrested and charged with endangering the life or health of a child at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday on the 300 block of Chicago Avenue. His court date is set for Dec. 21.

Trespassing

A man allegedly trespassed at Dominick's on the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday. Bobbie A. Clark, 43, of Evanston was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to land. His court date is set for Dec. 21.

Domestic Battery

A 32-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 11:50 p.m. on Friday on the 1100 block of Dewey Avenue. His court date is set for Wednesday.

A 49-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1600 block of Florence Avenue. His court date is set for Friday.

Driving under the Influence

Jose R. Ortiz, 22, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 1:14 a.m. on Thursday on the 1000 block of Davis Street. His court date is set for Jan. 11.

Glen C. Turenne, 48, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 6:50 a.m. on Saturday on the 800 block of Elgin Road. His court date is set for Jan. 11.

Marijuana Possession

Carlos A. Sosa, 20, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 2:07 a.m. on Thursday on the 1200 block of Crain Street. His court date is set for Jan. 11.

Driving without a License

Galdino Avila, 25, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 10:14 p.m. on Thursday on the 1000 block of Central Street. His court date is set for Dec. 29.

Tameka M. Kirksey, 32, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 22 on the 1600 block of Oakton Street. Her court date is set for Dec. 7.

Gabriella S. Miller, 21, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 2:27 a.m. on Thursday on the 400 block of Chicago Avenue. Her court date is set for Dec. 29.

Crystal C. Morales, 20, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 12:58 a.m. on Saturday on the 300 block of Asbury Avenue.

 

Shots Fired

Four gun shots were reported at 10:13 p.m. on Thursday on the 2200 block of Cleveland Street.

A gun shot was heard at 9:17 p.m. on Thursday on the 1100 block of Wesley Avenue.

A single gun shot was heard at 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday on the 400 block of Custer Avenue.

Gun shots were heard at 4:01 a.m. on Friday on the 2200 block of Grey Avenue.
