Police Blotter Nov. 4: Burglars Hit Car Parked in Garage on Emerson Street

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary

A Sony car stereo, a Samsung DVD player and seven DVDs were stolen from an unlocked red 2000 Chevrolet Tracker parked in a garage on the 2200 block of Emerson Street between 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 7:55 a.m. on Thursday. The items were valued at roughly $400.

Battery

Andre Williams, 23, of Chicago was arrested and charged with battery at 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 21 on the 1500 block of Howard Street. His court date was set for Tuesday.

Theft

A locked black Cannondale 10-speed boys' bicycle was stolen off a bike rack on the 1900 block of Ridge Avenue at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

A specialized, yellow, 28-inch bicycle with detailing was stolen out of an unlocked apartment storage unit on the 800 block of Hinman Avenue between 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Driving without a License

Tejera De La Tejera, 27, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday on the 1100 block of Austin Street. Her court date is set for Dec. 7.

Victor Ward, 41, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 4 p.m. on Wednesday on the 7100 block of North Clark Street in Chicago. His court date is set for Nov. 16.

Vandalism

A garage was tagged with blue spray paint between 12:36 a.m. on Sunday and 3:15 p.m. on Thursday on the 1400 block of Judson Avenue.
