Police Blotter Oct. 24: NU Student Robbed of iPhone Saturday; Woman Arrested for Allegedly Running Cadillac at Pregnant Woman

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Robbery

A Northwestern student was robbed of his cell phone at 11:43 p.m. on Saturday at the corner of University Place and Sherman Avenue. Police said he had been walking near the corner of Sheridan Road and Foster Street at about 11:30 p.m. when a man came up to him and asked the time. The victim took out his Apple iPhone 4S and gave the man the time. A short while later, he noticed the man had followed him to University and Sherman. At this time, the man demanded that he give up the cell phone. The victim tried reasoning with his assailant, offering him cash instead of the phone. The robber then knocked him to the ground, claimed to have a knife and hit him a few times. The student relented and gave the man his iPhone. The robber then fled south into downtown Evanston. A witness spotted the man, running, but police were not able to make an arrest. The suspect is a black man about 6-foot and 180 pounds wearing dark clothing and a dark hat with red detailing.
