Police Blotter Oct. 5: Armed Robbery, More

A recap of crimes reported in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Robbery-Armed

Victim stated that an unknown subject entered a store on the 1100 block of Howard, brought items to the counter, and then displayed a handgun. The subject took money from the cash register and fled on foot.  The robbery occurred on Oct. 3 at 2:58 p.m.

Robbery

Victim stated that two unknown subjects approached her from behind when she was on the 600 block of Hinman at 9 p.m. on Oct. 3. One subject demanded her purse. When the subject took the purse, the victim fell to the ground. The subjects fled on foot.

Criminal Damage

Unknown subject(s) used a BB gun to shoot out windows on the 200 block of Hartley at an unknown time on Oct. 3.

Unknown subject(s) threw a hammer through the victim's window between 2 and 4 a.m. on Oct. 5 on the 2400 block of Church.

Graffiti

Unknown subject(s) wrote graffiti on an external wall on the 300 block of Dodge on Oct. 3 at 11 p.m.

Theft

Unknown subject(s) took an unattended cell phone at the 2400 block of Main on Sept. 23 between 2:30 and 3 p.m.

Burglary to Vehicle

Unknown subject(s) forced entry to a 2002 Mitsubishi by breaking a driver side window and stole a car stereo.  It happened on the 1900 block of Wesley sometime between 10 p.m. Oct. 3 and 9 a.m. Oct. 4.

Aggrevated Unlawful Use of a Weapon

A 17-year-old man was arrested at 602 Mulford on Oct. 2 at 2:05 a.m. and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.  A court date has been set for Oct. 29 at 9 a.m.

Delivery of a Controlled Substance

Lajuan Ranniel Bowen, 28, was arrested at 1454 Elmwood on Oct. 3 at 3:20 p.m. and charged with delivery of controlled substance. A court date has been set for Oct. 15 at 9 a.m.

Battery

Ramiro Forty, 30, of Chicago, was arrested at 1200 South California on Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. and charged with battery and retail theft. A court date was set for Oct. 4 at 9 a.m.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

John Garland Hodges, 19, was arrested on Oct. 3 at 10:35 a.m. and charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. A trial date has been set for Nov. 6 at 9 a.m.
