Police Blotter Oct. 7: Woman Strikes Cop; Man Punches Person at Pizza Parlor

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Battery

A woman allegedly hit a police officer at 8:50 a.m. on Thursday in the street at the intersection of Simpson Street and Brown Avenue. Brittany M. Providence, 19, of Evanston was arrested and charged with battery. Her court date is set for Nov. 1.

A man punched someone in the face at Panino’s Pizza on the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The suspect is an Hispanic man about 6-foot tall.

Child Endangerment

Yolanda F. Lawrence, 40, of Evanston was arrested and charged with endangering the life or health of a child at 8:43 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1900 block of Emerson Street. Her court date is set for Nov. 16.

 

Theft

A man allegedly stole personal items from the CVS/pharmacy on the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue at 11:18 a.m. on Thursday. Charles M. Smith, 19, of Evanston was arrested and charged with retail theft. His court date is set for Nov. 14.

Two men stole a vacuum, a carpet runner and six watis fittings from the Home Depot on the 2300 block of Oakton Street at 10:56 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspects are white men, one 5-foot-8 and 280 pounds; the other 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds.

A purse was stolen from the North Shore Retirement Hotel on the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Something was stolen out of someone’s yard between 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. on Thursday on the 1500 block of Asbury Avenue.

 

Trespassing

Gianni F. Estes, 25, of Evanston was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing at 6:31 p.m. on Wednesday on the 100 block of Ridge Avenue. His court date is set for Nov. 1.

 

Protection Order Violation

Antoine E. Mack, 34, of Skokie was arrested and charged with violating an order of protection at 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday on the 100 block of Callan Avenue. His court date is set for Oct. 20.

 

Domestic Battery

A 24-year-old Evanston man was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 11 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1200 block of Hartrey Avenue. His court date is set for next Wednesday.

 

Vandalism

Graffiti was found sprayed in an alley of the 2300 block of Brown Avenue at 2:24 p.m. on Thursday.
