Police Blotter: Sept. 10-13

A recap of crimes reported in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

REPORTS OF SHOTS FIRED

 Police responded to a shots fired call on Sept. 11 around 10:43 a.m. on the 1800 block of Lamar. When officers arrived they checked the area and spoke to a witness who identified two male subjects wearing hoodies. Another shots fired call came in early Sept. 12 around 1:24 a.m. The resident reported hearing one shot fired on the 400 block of Callan. Police checked the area and didn't find anything.

BATTERY

 Durman N. Reid, 35, of 1750 Brown, was arrested at home on Sept. 10 at 11:55 p.m. and charged with domestic battery. A trial date has been set for Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m.

DRUG ARRESTS

Robert D. Graham, 49, of 69 East 101st Place, Chicago, was arrested at 909 Davis in Evanston on Sept. 8 at 9:31 a.m. and was charged with possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing. A trial date has been set for Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m.

Raquel Y. Miller, 28, of 2101 Jackson, was arrested at home on Sept. 10 at 4:30 p.m. and was charged with possession of cannabis. A trial date has been set for Oct. 6 at 1:30 p.m.

 

DUI

Quinn Phillip Johnson, 30, of 4745 North Ravenswood, Chicago, was arrested on the 1500 block of Oak in Evanston on Sept. 12 at 5:34 a.m. and was charged with a DUI. His court date has been set for Oct. 6 at 9 a.m.

GARAGE BURGLARIES

An unknown subject broke into a garage on the 1300 block of Fowler, sometime between Sept. 9 & 10 and stole a number of household items. The subject gained entry by breaking a window. Another garage on the 1200 block of Darrow was also robbed on Sept. 10. This time the subject made off with a Silver Road bicycle. That garage was not secure at the time.

HOUSE BURGLARY

A residence on the 2700 block of Lincolnwood was robbed Sept. 10. Police say the subject(s) stole an ibook, jewelry and checks after sneaking through an unsecured window.

POSSESSION OF BURGLARY TOOLS

An 11-year-old juvenile from Chicago was arrested at 1640 Chicago in Evanston on Sept. 10 at 4:28 p.m. and was charged with possession of burglary tools.

CAR BREAK-IN

An unknown subject broke into a 2006 Lexus Sept. 11 on the 2700 block of Gross Point. Inside the car was a purse and some other contents, which were all stolen.

STORAGE AREA ROBBERY

 Police are looking for the subject(s) who broke into a storage area on the 500 block of Michigan and stole two bicycles. It happened sometime between Aug. 15 and Aug. 19. One of the bicycles is violet, the other is a gray/black Gary Fisher model.

BICYCLE THEFTS

There are several bicycle thefts to report over the past month. Authorities are searching for the subject(s) who stole a secured bicycle on the 800 block of Main, back on Aug. 23. The bike was attached to a parking meter at the time of the robbery around 11p.m. The bicycle is described as black and giant. Police are also looking for the subject(s) who made off with a silver mountain bicycle, securely locked to an outside rail, on the 900 block of Noyes. This theft happened sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 9. Another subject(s) snatched a secured bicycle on the 1600 Block of Ridge on Sept. 9. The silver Diamondback was locked on a bike rack. Then on Sept. 10 a victim reported a bike stolen, also from a secured bike rack, on the 1600 block of Dodge. That bike is being described as a lime green Gary Fisher mountain bicycle. Also on Sept. 10, a purple bicycle went missing from a bike cage on the 2400 block of Prairie. That bicycle was not secure at the time of the robbery.  

 

WALLET STOLEN AT CAFE

 Around 5 p.m. on Sept. 10 a wallet was stolen from a café table on the 1000 block of Davis. Nobody was at the table at the time of the robbery. The subject is being described as a male, in his late 50's, with a "bowler" style hair cut.  

GRAFFITTI

An unknown subject(s) is accused of spray-painting a wall on the 700 block of Chicago. The graffiti was spotted on Sept. 12 in red paint. It happened around 1:30p.m. A little later that day, more graffiti was discovered outside the Metra station on the 600 block of Main. This time the subject(s) used black and white spray paint. No word yet if the two incidents are connected.

POSSESSION OF A PROHIBITED ANIMAL

Shelton Lee Bell, 36, of 2102 Jackson, was arrested at 1830 Ridge on Sept. 10 at 4:32 p.m for possession of a prohibited animal. His court date has been set for Oct. 6 at 1:30 p.m.

THEFT

 John Michael Frederick, 46, of 1000 Grove, was arrested at 810 Grove in Evanston on Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m. and was charged with theft of services. A court date has been set for Oct. 21 at 9 a.m.

Michael Gallimore, 32, of 1733 Leland, was arrested at 2301 Oakton on Sept. 12 at 3:40 p.m. for retail theft. A court date has been set for Oct. 6 at 10:30 a.m.

Charles D'Angelo Brown, 31, of 4046 South Federal, Chicago, was arrested at 2400 Main in Evanston on Sept. 12 at 5:25 p.m. and was charged with retail theft. A court date has been set for Oct. 1 at 9 a.m.

Four juveniles were arrested on Sept. 12 at 6:55 p.m. and were charged with attempted theft. The incident happened on the 900 block of Church. Three of the juveniles are from Chicago, the other is from Evanston.

TRAFFIC ARRESTS

Sara LeThompson, 24, of 624 Central, was arrested at 524 Ridge on Sept. 11 at 7:25 p.m. and was charged with a traffic violation. A court date has been set for Oct. 9 at 9 a.m.

Diego Vega, 22, of 827 Hartrey, was arrested at Ridge/Seward on Sept. 11 at 7:15 a.m. and was charged with a traffic violation. A trial date has been set for Oct. 28 at 10:30 a.m.

Manuel Vaca, 22, of 7515 North Ridge, Chicago, was arrested at 7540 North Ridge in Evanston on Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. and was charged with a traffic violation. A court date has been set for Oct. 8 at 9 a.m.
