Police Blotter Sept. 15: Boy Robbed of Bike at CVS; Woman Charged in June Battery

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Robbery

Two males pushed a 12-year-old boy off his red Mongoose BMX bicycle on Wednesday while he was waiting beside the RedBox video rental outside the CVS/Pharmacy on the 100 block of Asbury Avenue. They stole the bike at 5:20 p.m. and took off north on Asbury. The suspects were black males with a thin build about 5-foot-10. They were wearing black clothes and hoodies.

Battery

A Chicago woman was arrested Wednesday in charges stemming from an incident at a retirement home on June 27. Evanston Police arrested Herminia G. Bosita, 61, at the Skokie Court House on the 5600 block of Old Orchard Road in Skokie at 9:20 a.m. Police said that at 12:43 a.m. on June 27 she got into an argument with a co-worker at the Presbyterian Homes on the 3200 block of Grant Street. Police said Bosita pulled her co-worker's hair and threw her to the ground before fleeing the scene. On Wednesday, she was charged with misdemeanor battery. Her court date is set for Oct. 5.

A woman hit someone on the street at 10:16 a.m. on Wednesday on the corner of Howard Street and Chicago Avenue. The suspect is a black woman who weighs about 240 pounds.

 

Child Endangerment

Frederick Lee, 29, of Evanston was arrested at his home on the 100 block of Callan Avenue and charged with endangering the life or health of a child at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. His court date is set for Sept. 28.

 

Theft

Forty-two chairs, an umbrella and a table were reported stolen from a lawn on the 900 block of Grey Avenue at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The suspect is a Hispanic man about 5-foot-3 and 195 pounds.

A blue 2008 Schwinn motorized scooter was stolen of the street between 7:30 p.m and 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday on the 1000 block of Dewey Avenue.

A wallet was picked from someone's pocket at the Jewel-Osco grocery on the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

A garbage can was reported stolen from an alley on the 1300 block of Main Street at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 7.
