Police Blotter Sept. 16: White GMC Truck Stolen from Driveway; Evanston Man Charged with Sexual Assault

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft

A white 1993 GMC truck was stolen from a driveway on the 2100 block of Foster Street between 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday and 5:34 a.m. on Thursday. The "junk truck" had a wire mesh around the bed. Five marine batteries were also stolen from a second pickup truck, the owner's primary vehicle.

A man allegedly stole three Apple iPad tablet computers and an Apple iPod music player from the Target store at 10:44 p.m. on Wednesday on the 2200 block of Howard Street. Police arrested Warner T. Anderson, 22, of Chicago at 10:50 p.m. and charged him with theft over $500. His court date is set for Oct. 14.

An unlocked red Huffy bicycle was stolen from an apartment complex parking lot at 7 p.m. on Wednesday on the 2200 block of Central Street.

A registration sticker was reportedly stolen off a 2008 Acura at 6:46 p.m. on Thursday on the 1100 block of Church Street.

 

Sexual Assault

Carlos Ramirez-Perez, 39, of Evanston was arrested and charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Evanston Police Station. The assault was reportedly domestic-related. His court date is set for Oct. 6.

 

Battery

A woman reported a dispute with her physician at St. Francis Hospital on the 300 block of Ridge Avenue at 11:55 p.m. on Sept. 7.

 

Burglary

A burglar damaged a garage door in order to steal a white and brown Mongoose bicycle and a chainsaw between 3:45 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. on Thursday on the 1800 block of Foster Street.

 

Vandalism

A window screen was reportedly damaged on a house on the 1400 block of Church Street at 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Someone damaged the window of a 2009 Toyota in a parking lot between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday on the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue.

Someone poured red liquid on the hood of a 2006 BMW at 10 p.m. on Thursday on the 1800 block of Ridge Avenue.

The trunk and rear panel of a 2004 Chrysler was keyed between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the parking lot of Food 4 Less on the 2400 block of Main Street.

 

Domestic Battery

A 51-year-old Evanston woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 12:25 a.m. on Thursday at her home on the 2700 block of Elgin Road. Her court date is set for next Wednesday.

 

Disorderly Conduct

A 12-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and chaged with disorderly conduct at 8:25 p.m. on Thursday.

 

Indecent Exposure

A 14-year-old Evanston resident was arrested and charged with indecent exposure at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday on the 900 block of Main Street.

 

Marijuana Possession

Alexon C. Arceneaux, 27, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 6 p.m. on Thursday on the 1900 block of McDaniel Avenue. His court date is set for Oct. 7.

Kimberly M. Garza, 42, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 2:35 a.m. on Thursday on the 1000 block of Seward Street. Her court date is set for Oct. 20.

 

Man with Gun

A man was seen with a gun at 11:33 p.m. on Thursday on the 2400 block of Dempster Street. The suspect is a black male about 5-foot-6 and 140 pounds. Police checked the area but did not locate the gunman.
