Police Blotter Sept. 23: Evanston Police Nab Burglar; Boy Knocks Girl off Bike

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Robbery

A male knocked a girl off her bicycle and stole the bike at 8 a.m. on Wednesday on the bike path on the 2000 block of McCormick Boulevard. The suspect is a black male about 5-foot-4 and 111 pounds. The bike was recovered.

Burglary

Larry S. Cox, 28, of Evanston was arrested and charged with two counts of auto burglary and one count of possession of stolen property at 10:27 p.m. on Monday on the 1900 block of Foster Street. Additionally, William Nelson, 49, of Evanston was arrested in connection with one of the burglaries and charged with credit card fraud at 4:15 p.m. at the Evanston Police Station. Their court dates are set for Oct. 26.

Two men stole clothing from a car on the 1800 block of Lyons Street between 8 p.m. on Monday and 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The suspects are black men, each about 5-foot-6 and 150 pounds.

 

Battery

A group of people hit someone with their fists at 3:55 p.m. on Thursday not he corner of Hovland Court and Church Street.

 

Theft

A silver 2002 Honda Civic coupe was stolen from a municipal lot on the 2100 block of Ridge Avenue between 8:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. The keys had been taken from the office.

Something was stolen from an unattended bag at a restaurant on the 800 block of Grove Street at 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

Two bicycles that were locked together on the sidewalk were stolen between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 15. The bikes were a Next bike and a yellow and silver Mongoose bicycle.

A black and yellow Denali bicycle was stolen off a street sign between 7 p.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. on Thursday on the 800 block of Simpson Street.

 

Credit Card Fraud

Ashley G. Lopez, 19, of Chicago was arrested and charged with credit card fraud at 1:36 p.m. on Wednesday on the 2200 block of Howard Street. Her court date is set for next Wednesday.

 

Vandalism

The rear passenger wheel well of a 2008 Honda was scratched between 9 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. on Thursday in the parking lot of the 2400 block of Howard Street.

Graffiti was found on Metra property at the corner of Lincoln Street and Green Bay Road at 11:06 a.m. on Thursday.

More graffiti was found on Metra property at the corner of Central Street and Green Bay Road at 11:18 a.m. on Thursday.

Graffiti was also found on Metra property at the corner of Livingston Street and Green Bay Road at 11:24 a.m. on Thursday.

 

Driving without a License

Susana Guzman, 42, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday on the 400 block of Dodge Avenue. Her court date is set for Oct. 20.

Sabrina Roberson, 36, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 8:29 a.m. on Wednesday on the 2100 block of Emerson Street. Her court date is set for Nov. 1.

 

Other Offenses

Justin E. Dunlap, 18, of Evanston was arrested and charged with some other criminal offense at 6 p.m. on Thursday on the 700 block of Dobson Street. His court date is set for Oct. 7.
