Police Blotter Sept. 27: Boy Knocked Down in Robbery Attempt; Women Steal Rogaine at CVS

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Robbery

A boy walking to the South Boulevard El station to attend school in Chicago was confronted by three males who wished to rob him between 6:50 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. on Monday on the 600 block of Oakton Street. He resisted their demands, then slip and fell on the sidewalk, hitting his head. One of the males then kicked him in the ribs before the three of them fled. Nothing was stolen. The suspects are white or Hispanic males wearing black hooded sweatshirts.

Assault & Battery

A woman was punched and kicked by another woman when she came to pick up her cousin at a townhouse on the 2000 block of Lake Street at 1:24 p.m. on Sunday. The suspect is a black woman about 5-foot-6 and 190 pounds. She was gone when police arrived.

A woman punched someone in the face at the A.J. Mini-Mart on the 1900 block of Church Street at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The suspect is a black woman about 5-foot tall and 100 pounds.

A man assaulted someone on the corner of Dodge Avenue and Emerson Street at 8:50 p.m. on Sunday. The suspect is a black man about 6-foot tall.

 

Theft

Two women stole Rogaine hair medication from the CVS/pharmacy on the 3300 block of Central Street between 4:08 p.m. and 4:14 p.m. on Monday. The suspects are black women about 5-foot-8. One is about 175 pounds and the other about 170 pounds.

A 1993 red Toro snow blower was reported stolen out of the back of a truck at 6:39 p.m. on Monday in the Jewel-Osco parking lot on the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue.

A woman allegedly stole a display camera from Target at 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday on the 2200 block of Howard Street. Debin L. Bell, 25, of Skokie was arrested and charged with retail theft. Her court date is set for Oct. 13.

A man allegedly stole multiple bottles of alcohol at 5:52 p.m. on Monday at Sam's Club on the 2400 block of Main Street. Isaiah T. Johnson, 20, of Chicago was arrested and charged with retail theft. His court date is set for Nov. 1.

A man allegedly stole 122 pieces of copper trim from the Home Depot at 3:30 p.m. on Monday on the 2300 block of Oakton Street. John P. Moran Jr., 31, of Niles was arrested and charged with retail theft. His court date is set for Nov. 8.

A man stole six saw blades from the Home Depot at 10:37 a.m. on Monday on the 2300 block of Oakton Street. The suspect is a black man about 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds.

A packaged was stolen from the common area of an apartment building on the 800 block of Washington Street.

The cable lock on a white Schwinn bicycle was cut between 10 a.m. on Saturday and 9 p.m. in an apartment common area on the 2100 block of Maple Avenue.

A black Cannondale bicycle was reported stolen at 9 a.m. on Monday on the 1500 block of Oak Avenue. The bike had been locked inside an apartment common area.

An unlocked Citizen Miami lime green bicycle was stolen from someone's lawn on the 1000 block of Garnett Place at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

 

Vandalism

Two men damaged the rear gate's hydraulic arm to an apartment building on the 800 block of Dobson Street at 3 p.m. on Monday. The suspects are black men about 150 pounds. One was 5-foot-8 and the other 5-foot-11.

 

Marijuana Possession

Anthony A. Martin, 33, of Evanston was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 4:06 p.m. on Monday on the 1200 block of Church Street. His court date is set for Oct. 20.

 

Driving without a License

Leah N. Pearson, 28, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday on the 400 block of Custer Avenue. Her court date is set for Oct. 26.

Miriam Renteria, 31, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 8:38 a.m. on Friday on the 200 block of Dodge Avenue. Her court date is set for Oct. 20.

Vanney M. Soria-Lopez, 23, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 5:02 p.m. on Saturday on the 500 block of Chicago Avenue. A court date is set for Oct. 20.

Kelley M. Wilde, 40, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a license at 9:02 a.m. on Saturday on the 2600 block of Prairie Avenue. Her court date is set for Oct. 20.

 

Shots Fired

Gun shots were heard in Harbert Park along the North Shore Channel at 7:42 p.m. on Monday on the 1000 block of McDaniel Avenue.
