Police Blotter Sept. 28: Woman Bites Finger; Ten Hats, Two Shirts Stolen from Apartment

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Battery

A woman bit someone's finger at 4 p.m. on Tuesday on the 1800 block of Brown Avenue. The suspect is a black woman about 5-foot tall and 100 pounds.

Theft

Someone stole 10 shirts and two hats from an apartment common area between 2 p.m. last Friday and 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday on the 800 block of Dobson Street.

A woman stole seven cell phones from a business on the 300 block of Howard Street between Aug. 5 and Aug. 15. The suspect is a white woman about 5-foot-10.

A locked, 20-inch Sirrus bicycle was stolen at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday on the 1700 block of Maple Avenue.

 

Vandalism

Someone punched six pencil-sized holes into the back of a car seat on a 2011 model between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday on the 1800 block of Dempster Street.

Someone tagged a private garage with graffiti between 12:01 a.m. on Monday and 7:42 a.m. on Tuesday on the 1600 block of Cleveland Street.

Black spray paint graffiti was reported on a fence on the 2300 block of Nathaniel Place at 11:07 a.m. on Tuesday.

 

Driving under the Influence

Molly J. Ori, 19, of Highland Park was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday on the corner of Green Bay Road and Lincoln Street. Her court date is set for Oct. 20.

 

Drug Possession

A 17-year-old Evanston boy was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance at 6:31 p.m. on Monday on the 1400 block of Grey Avenue. His court date is set for Oct. 6.

 

Driving without a License

Dominic A. Connerly, 20, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday on the 1800 block of Lyons Street. His court date is set for Oct. 18.

Susan J. Freely, 60, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday on the 1800 block of Lincoln Street. Her court date is set for Oct. 20.

 

Open Container

Edward B. Bukwa, 49, of Evanston was arrested and charged with open possession of alcohol on public property at 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday on the 2700 block of Grant Street. His court date is set for Oct. 27.
