Police Blotter Sept. 29: Alleged Shoplifter Arrested on Return to Jewel; iPod Stolen from Shelter Resident

A recap of crimes committed in Evanston.

The following items are taken from the Evanston Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Trespassing

An Evanston man was arrested on a trespassing charge at Jewel-Osco on Wednesday after he had been told last Thursday not to return to the store because of an alleged shoplifting attempt. Police arrested Gregory K. Mosley, 53, of Evanston was arrested without incident and charged with trespassing at 7:10 a.m. The store had not pressed charges on the shoplifting claim from last week. His court date is set for Nov. 8.

Theft

A resident of the Hilda's Place shelter on the 1400 block of Chicago had his Apple iPod music player swiped between 10:30 a.m. and noon on Wednesday. He had left it unattended. The iPod was valued at $109.

A wallet was stolen out of an unsecured locker at the YMCA athletic club between 1:45 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1000 block of Grove Street.

An unlocked 27-inch green Trek bicycle was stolen off the sidewalk at 4 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1600 block of Benson Avenue.

A boy tried to steal a bike off the Washington Elementary school grounds on the 900 block of Ashland Avenue at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

A 15-year-old Chicago resident was arrested and charged with retail theft at Best Buy on the 2300 block of Howard Street at 3:37 a.m. on Tuesday.

 

Battery

on the school grounds of the Evanston Township High School at 8 p.m. on Tuesday on the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue. Police arrested Adria J. M. Watkins, 36, of Evanston and charged her with aggravated battery, Her court date is set for Nov. 7.

 

Vandalism

Someone scribbled magic marker in an apartment common area between 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 1 and 9:12 a.m. on Wednesday on the 800 block of Forest Avenue.

 

Domestic Battery

Shawn M. Daniels, 21, of Evanston was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 1:27 a.m. on Sunday on the 2100 block of Darrow Avenue. His court date is set for Oct. 12.

 

Protection Order Violation

Mansfield Hood, 66, of Evanston was arrested and charged with violating an order of protection at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday on the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue. His court date is set for next Wednesday.

 

Arrest Warrant

James R. Buck, 49, of Park City was arrested on a warrant at 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday on the 1100 block of Florence Avenue.

Gregory R. Kimbrough, 50, of Evanston was arrested on a warrant at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday at Jewel-Osco on the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue.

Leah N. Pearson, 28, of Evanston was arrested on a warrant at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday on the 400 block of Custer Avenue.

 

Driving without a License

Lucena Balbuena, 37, of Evanston was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 12:44 p.m. on Wednesday. Her court date is set for Nov. 5.

Karen Garcia, 19, of Morton Grove was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license at 5 p.m. on Wednesday on the 900 block of Dodge Avenue. Her court date is set for Oct. 20.
