Evanston police arrested two Chicago men who they believe removed wheels from a car in Evanston early Tuesday night.

Evanston police say they arrested two Chicago men after they caught them running away from the scene of an auto theft early Tuesday morning.

The two men, both from Chicago, stole the wheels from a Honda parked in the 800 block of Hinman Avenue in Evanston at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, according to police.

Police say they caught Ricardo Gaytan, 21, of the 1800 block of West Huron Street, on foot near the 800 block of Hinman Avenue. A witness later identified him as one of the offenders.

Next, police stopped a car in the area, driven by Angel Castrejon, of the 1900 block of West Superior Street. Inside, they found items stolen from the Honda, as well as tools used to commit the crime, according to police.

Gaytan and Castrejon are each charged with one count of felony theft. They are scheduled to appear in room 105 of Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 9 a.m. Nov. 7.
