Police Chief Helps Make Gun Arrest

The Evanston police chief helped detain a man whom police say threw a gun out the window of a car.

The following is from the Evanston Police Department:

On Thursday, June 18, 2014 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Chief of Police Richard Eddington had been in the area of Greenbay Road and Simpson St. when two female complainants had reported being followed by a vehicle.  

Upon investigating and locating the vehicle involved in the 2100 block of Wesley Ave., Chief Eddington detained two subjects and a firearm was recovered that had been thrown by one of the occupants of the vehicle. At this time, assisting police units had arrived on scene. 

As a result of a quick response, a firearm was recovered and Alexander Daniel, age 31, currently of Des Plaines, was taken into custody and charged by detectives with aggravated unlawful use of weapon.
