Police Detain 'Person of Interest' in Coleman Shooting

Evanston Police say they have taken someone into custody whom they believe may have been involved in the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Evanston Township High School freshman Dajae Coleman.

Evanston Police say they have identified and detained a "person of interest" in the shooting of Dajae Coleman, 14.

The Evanston Township High School freshman was shot four times at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, in the 1500 block of Church Street, as he was walking home with friends, according to police. Officers have not released any other details of the crime.

"The investigation still continues to progress forward and no further information is being released at this time," Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said in a statement issued to the media Thursday afternoon. 

Parrott said police would release more information on the person they have taken into custody soon.
