Police Focus on Underage Violators at Evanston 1st Liquors

EPD has increased surveillance at the the Davis St. store.

Evanston police are bulking up surveillance at Evanston 1st Liquors in hopes of rooting out underage customers who are purchasing alcohol there, according to the The Daily Northwestern.

Officers will check the store once or twice a week, the paper reported, quoting Cmdr. Jay Parrott as saying, "there will be random checks at various times to monitor to see if underage people are in there and attempting to purchase alcohol."

According to arrest records, a 19 year old from Evanston was arrested Feb. 3 for illegal possession of alcohol at the store. The Daily Northwestern article says that two underage Northwestern students were arrested in late January for possession of alcohol and a store clerk-in-training was also arrested for selling alcohol to minors.
