Police: Former Employee Caught Stealing Vodka From Pete Miller’s

Evanston police arrested a 49-year-old Chicago man and charged him with burglary after surveillance video showed him stealing bottles of vodka from Pete Miller's, according to police.

A former Pete Miller’s employee was arrested Saturday after surveillance video showed him stealing vodka from behind the bar, police said.

A bartender noticed a shortage of vodka bottles Saturday, Aug. 17, and managers at the store then took a look at surveillance video, according to police. They recognized Allen Conway, 49, a former employee, in the video, which showed that he had entered the store around 4:50 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, and 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, and stole a total of four bottles of vodka, according to police.

Police arrested Conway, of the 7300 block of North Damen, after they spotted him in the 1500 block of Sherman Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, police reported. He is charged with two counts of burglary, a felony.
