An 80-year-old Evanston woman was robbed at Main Street and Custer Avenue as she walked back from a local bank around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.
The woman had just left the Charter One Bank downtown, at 525 Main St., when a man forcibly took her purse from her, police said. He ran away with two other people into the north alley of Main Street, and then drove off in a vehicle. The woman was not injured during the incident, according to police.
Police said the man was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and was between the ages of 18 and 22.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Evanston Police Department at 847-866-5000 or text the department anonymously by sending the keyword EPDTIP to 274637 (CRIMES) along with the message.
