Police Investigating Shooting at Evanston Park

A 17 year old was shot in the neck Friday night at Gilbert Park on Emerson St.

Evanston police are investigating a shooting at Gilbert Park Friday evening and asking for anyone with information to contact the department.

Police received numerous calls just before 6:30 p.m. Friday about a shooting near 1600 Emerson Street. When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot in the neck. He was taken to Evanston North Shore University Hospital and is in stable condition, police said. No one else was injured.

Police said the victim had been with friends at Gilbert Park when a male offender fired several shots from behind some bushes.

Anyone with information related to the shooting should call 847-866-5000 or text-a-tip by texting information to CRIMES (274637) and entering EPD TIP to the message. All tips are anonymous unless the tipster wants to be known.
