Police: Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Evanston Boy

Police say a 33-year-old Freeport man sexually assaulted an Evanston boy from March to August 2008, when the boy was 7 years old.

EVANSTON, IL — Police charged a 33-year-old Freeport man Tuesday with sexually assaulting an Evanston boy, according to police.

Anthony P. Tyler, of the 600 block of East Currier Road in Freeport, was charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, police said.

The assault took place between March and August 2008, when the boy was 7 years old and his alleged assaulter was also living in Evanston, according to police. Police said Tyler was neighbors with the boy and an acquaintance of the victim's family. He was charged with sexually abusing another member of the victim's family in 2008, police said.

Evanston police began investigating the matter Tyler's interactions with the boy after he reported being assaulted to a police school resource officer in October. The boy later identified him in a line-up, according to police.
