Police Promise Strict Presence at Northwestern-Ohio State Game

In a warning to fans, police said they will be on the lookout for disorderly conduct, public urination and open containers of alcohol and would make arrests if need be.

The following press release was issued by the Evanston Police Department in advance of the sold-out Northwestern-Ohio State football game Saturday:

The Evanston Police Department wants to give notice to all participants attending the festivities associated with the upcoming Northwestern vs. Ohio State football game this Saturday, October 5th.

Concerns of potential problematic activity occurring in the neighborhoods around Ryan Field, off-campus housing and downtown Evanston from excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages will be taken seriously by law enforcement.

Individuals committing violations of disorderly conduct, public urination, and/or having an open container of alcohol on the public way will be subject to arrest and required to post a $120 cash bond for release from police custody after the time consuming booking procedure.

Additionally, minors in possession of alcoholic beverages will be subject to arrest with the same provisions of bond and booking.

Please consider your environment while attending football related events this weekend and assist in creating a positive atmosphere for all, in and around the Evanston Community.

Extra police personnel will be on hand in these areas to address any violations observed or as a result of complaints exhibiting this type of behavior.
