Police Still Looking for Armed Robbery Suspect

Man robbed a beauty supply store Oct. 3.

Evanston Police are still looking for a man who showed a gun to a clerk at Howard Beauty Supply on Oct. 3 and took an unknown amount of money from the cash register before running off.

Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said the man placed a pile of socks and underwear on the counter as if he was about to purchase them, then displayed a black flat handgun on his waist.

"He told clerk he didn't want to hurt her, but he wanted the money," said Guenther, reading from the police report.

The store clerk then opened the register, and man then grabbed money and fled the Howard Street store by foot.

The police report describes the man as a chubby Hispanic male in his 30s, about 5'5", who was wearing a red hat, black sweater, and yellow boots at the time of the robbery. The man has a tattoo of a tear drop under his right eye, and what the store clerk said appeared to be "sloppy marker written on the left side of his face," according to the police report.
