Thieves Steal Catalytic Converters In South Evanston

The following arrest information was supplied by the Evanston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Missing cell phone

A woman reported her cell phone stolen on Feb. 27. According to police, the woman lost her purse and when someone turned it in, her cell phone was missing. The phone was valued at around $500, police stated.

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Monroe Street on Feb. 27. The car part contains precious metals that can be sold for several hundred dollars.

Another catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Reba Place on Feb. 27.

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Austin Avenue on Feb. 27.

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Austin Street on Feb. 27.

Stolen groceries

A business in the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue reported that a customer stole groceries from their store on Feb. 27. No arrests were made. 

Stolen copper

A business owner reported his copper downspouts stolen from the exterior of his store in the 900 block of Noyes Street on Feb. 26. The estimated loss was more than $500, the report stated.

Gang graffiti

Police observed gang graffiti in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue on Feb. 26.

Retail theft

Priscilla Reyes Castillo, 36, of Valparaiso, was charged with retail theft on Feb. 27. Castillo was arrested in the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue.
