Residents Report Seeing 'Man with Gun' in Evanston

Aggravated assault

 A person was threatened with a baseball bat by an unknown offender in the 1800 block of Howard Street on May 15 around 7:17 p.m.

Burglary

Cash and lawn equipment were reported stolen from a residential garage in the 2100 block of Keeney Street on May 15.

A wallet, cash, sunglasses, tools, athletic equipment and other items were reported stolen from a residential garage in the 2100 block of Seward Street on May 15.

Vehicle vandalism

An unknown person busted out the window of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of South Boulevard on May 13.

Stolen wallet

A man reported his wallet stolen in the 1600 block of Benson Avenue on May 15.

Stolen phone

A cell phone was reported stolen from school grounds near the intersection of Judson and Greenwood Street on May 14.

Stolen bike

A bicycle was reported stolen from a residential garage in the 900 block of Grey Avenue on May 14.

Stolen booze

A bottle of alcohol was reported stolen from a store in the 1300 block of Dodge Avenue on May 13.

Theft from auto

Athletic gear and a gym bag were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Simpson Street on May 14.

Man with gun

Area residents called police about a "man with a gun" in the 1600 block of Simpson Street on May 15 around 7 p.m. Police checked the area but found nothing, the report stated.

No further details were provided.

Aggravated assault

David Dunpont, 57, of Evanston, was charged with aggravated assault on May 15. The offender was arrested in the 600 block of Case around 2:20 p.m., police said.

Domestic battery

A 24-year-old Chicago man was charged with domestic battery on May 11. The offender was arrested in the 300 block of Custer around 8:20 a.m., police said.

DUI

Carlos Melon, 57, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on May 15. Melon was stopped near the intersection of Elmwood and Grove around 4:15 p.m., police said.
