Arrests: Burglary, Theft

Dennis M. Alexander, 55, of the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue, was arrested and charged with burglary at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Grove Street, according to police. 

James Elvis Coello, 47, of the 3300 North Troy in Chicago, was arrested and charged with theft in the 1500 block of Chicago Avenue at 12:06 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, police reported. 

Robber Displays Plastic Gun

A man displayed a plastic gun, then stole a car key and two house keys in the 500 block of Wesley Avenue at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, according to police. 

Former Tenant Steals Stove

A former tenant was seen taking a white stove from a home in the 1900 block of Howard Street at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, police reported. 

Getaway Driver Hits Employee After Retail Theft

An employee was the victim of aggravated battery after he or she tried to chase down the offenders who stole magazines from a store in the 2400 block of Howard Street at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26. When the offenders got in a 2005 Dodge, the female driver struck the employee, according to police. 

Thief Steals Cash, Phone, Backpack From Locker

Someone stole cash, a wallet, an Acer cell phone and a backpack with red strings from a locker in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue between 8 and 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, police reported. 

Attempted Burglary From a Motor Vehicle

Someone entered a 1995 Subaru in the 200 block of South Boulevard between 6:30 and 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, according to police. Nothing was reported stolen.

Graffiti On Sheridan Road

Graffiti appeared in a park in the 2600 block of Sheridan Road between 4:30 and 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, according to police.
