Robbers Hit Victim With Bat, Steal Watch

Two men struck a man in the head with a bat, then stole his watch at 1:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, in the 900 block of Davis Street, according to police.

Gunfire Reported Near ETHS

Police investigated a report that someone fired a gun in the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue at 9:14 p.m. Wednesday, July 5. Nothing was found in the area.

Police investigated a report that a man fired a gun at Dodge Avenue and Church Street at 12:14 a.m. Sunday, June 9. Nothing was found in the area.

Arrests: Burglary, Resisting Arrest, Retail Theft

Alaa Usmana El-Tayeb, 20, was arrested and charged with retail theft after she stole from a grocery store in the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 1:06 p.m. Sunday, June 9, according to police. 

Layton J. Jones, 20, of the 2400 block of Church Street in Evanston, was arrested and charged with aggravated resisting arrest at 8:01 p.m. Friday, June 7, in the 2400 block of Church Street, police reported. 

Lorenzo Ruiz Jones, 19, of the 5400 block of North Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and charged with residential burglary at 9 a.m. Friday, June 7, in the 700 block of Hinman Avenue. 

A 45-year-old Evanston woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery at 12:47 p.m. Friday, June 7, according to police. 

Canaan Lamas Walker, 21, of the 3700 block of South Princeton in Chicago, was arrested and charged with panhandling at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue, police reported.

Garage Burglar Takes Car, Bikes, Stereo

Someone stole a beige 1999 Oldsmobile during a garage burglary in the 1400 block of Oakton Street between 10 p.m. Thursday, June 6, and 6:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, police reported. The license plate is J253110. The burglar also stole a Sony car stereo, a green and grey Trek bicycle with Bontrager tires and a black and yellow Iron Horse road racing bike, police said.

Woman Drives Off With Chevy Impala

A woman stole the keys to a red Chevrolet Impala and took off with the car at 10:06 a.m. Friday, June 7, in the 1500 block of Monroe Street, police reported.

Burglar Steals Bike On Grant

Someone stole a white Giant mountain bike with a basket on the front from an unlocked garage in the 2100 block of Grant Street, according to police.

Attempted Burglaries on Sheridan, Dempster

Someone saw a man trying to pry open the window of an apartment in the 600 block of Sheridan Road at 12:45 p.m. Friday, June 7, according to police. 

Cars Burglarized On Oak, Florence

Someone stole a car stereo and GPS from an unlocked 2002 Jeep parked at Oak Avenue and Davis Street between 10 p.m. Friday, June 7, and 8:45 a.m. Saturday, June 8, according to police. 

A witness saw a man opening the door of a 2009 Subaru parked in a driveway in the 1000 block of Florence Avenue around 11 p.m. Sunday, June 9, police reported.  

Bikes Stolen From Park

Two men stole an unlocked light blue BMX bicycle from a park in the 2500 block of Sheridan Road at 3:32 p.m. Friday, June 7, police reported. 

Two men stole an unlocked white Schwinn mountain bicycle from a park in the 2500 block of Sheridan Road at 3:40 p.m. Friday, June 7, according to police.

Tip Jar Swiped On Sherman

Someone stole the tip jar off the counter at an independent restaurant in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue between 11 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, according to police. 

Theft: Phone, Wallet, Briefcase

A known offender refused to return a leather wallet with its contents to someone between 6 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Oakton Street and Dodge Avenue, according to police.

Someone took an Apple cell phone from the table of a restaurant in the 2200 block of Oakton Street around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, June 9, police said.

Someone stole a briefcase that was left unattended at a chain restaurant in the 1400 block of Sherman Avenue between 11 and 11:59 p.m. Friday, June 7, according to police.

Someone stole a white iPhone with a leopard case from the classroom of a school in the 2400 block of Lake Street between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, according to police.

Someone stole an Apple cell phone from a backpack at Evanston Township High School between 1:30 and 2:40 p.m. Friday, June 7, according to police.
