Slain Teen Was 2014 ETHS Grad

The 18-year-old was shot and killed on Howard Street Friday. The school is offering grief counseling to students and staff Monday and Tuesday.

Evanston Township High School is offering grief counseling to students and staff who would like help in the wake of news that 2014 graduate Alante Vallejo was shot and killed last week.

The following message was sent out to the ETHS community and posted on the school's website.

Dear ETHS Family:

We are saddened to report that Alante Vallejo, a June 2014 graduate of ETHS, was shot and killed on Friday, June 6, according to the Chicago Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.

We know that some students and staff members will have a difficult time dealing with this news. Our Student Services staff will be available today, June 9, to provide grief counseling to any currently-enrolled student or staff member who might need it until 2:00pm. Because this is a make-up day for final exams, students entering the building on June 9 should inform safety that they are here for grief counseling upon arrival to school.

Grief counseling will also be available during the last day of school on Tuesday, June 10 until 2:00pm in room E118. No appointment is necessary.

In addition, please click here to view additional resources that are available to teens in crisis situations.

Our sympathy and thoughts are with Alante’s family.

Sincerely,
Marcus Campbell
Assistant Superintendent / Principal
