Woman Stabbed in Neck, Face Walks to Hospital

Stabbing on school grounds

Officers responded to an aggravated battery complaint at Rice Children's Center, 1101 Washington St., on April 30 around 3 p.m.

The victim was a minor, police said, and received a minor laceration on the stomach. It was later revealed that the juvenile was "allegedly horse playing around" and is unsure how the injury occurred or what type of weapon was used, according to police.
"There's mitigating circumstances," said Cmdr. Jason Parrott. "The injuries were minor and the incident is under investigation."

Parrott added the incident may be downgraded to battery.
Second stabbing
Updated 4:44 p.m. ~
An 18-year-old woman was stabbed several times in different areas of her body in the 900 block of Austin Street on April 30 around 9:30 p.m. According to police, the woman was walking toward her residence when a 22-year-old female known to the victim "jumped her."
The woman was stabbed in the left side of the face, bicep, neck, thigh and breast, said Parrott. Following the stabbing, the victim walked to St. Francis Hospital about one block away and admitted herself. She was released later that day, Parrott said.
The suspect was described as a black female, 5-foot-7 and about 135-pounds.
Police are currently attempting to locate the offender.

Apartment burglarized
A high end road bike was reported stolen from an apartment in the 1000 block of Main Street on April 29. The bike is valued at more than $500, the report stated.

A bike was reported stolen from a parking lot in the 400 block of Davis Street on April 28.
Stolen grill
A 14-inch barbecue grill was reported stolen from the 1300 Oak Avenue on April 30.
Stolen phone
An Apple iPhone was reported stolen from the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue on April 30.
Meds stolen from auto
A bottle of Lipitor medicine, several baseball bats and athletic equipment were reported stolen from a car parked in the 2300 block of Emerson Street on May 1. The offender gained entry by prying the door open, the report stated.
Burglary
A snow blower and clothing were reported stolen from an apartment in the 800 block of Brummel Street on April 30.
DUI
Leo Sizys, 52, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on April 30. The driver was stopped in the 1700 block of Howard Street around 6 p.m., police said.
