Strong-Arm Robbery, Spitting Suspect, Multiple Shots Fired and More

This edition of the Evanston police blotter includes information supplied by police on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Burglary from Motor Vehicle

A black and gold leather purse was stolen from an unlocked 2009 Nissan in the 1600 block of Florence on Sept. 14 between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Burglary Motor Vehicle Parts

A black Pioneer stereo system was stolen from a 2001 Chevrolet parked in the 2200 block of Emerson St. sometime between 9 p.m. Sept. 15 and 9 a.m. Sept. 16. The left window of the vehicle was reportedly left opened.

A gray Ipod and a driver's license were stolen from a 2007 Dodge that was parked in the 200 block of Callan Ave. sometime between Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 8 at noon. The door to the vehicle was reportedly unlocked. 

Criminal Damage to Property

A fence was damaged in the yard of a single family residence in the 1900 block of Dewey Ave. on Sept. 14 between midnight and 4:30 p.m. 

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

A 2009 Saab was damaged in the rear driver's side quarter panel in the 900 block of Chicago Ave. on Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m. The offender is described as a white male, standing five foot eight inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. 

Criminal Defacement

Graffiti was discovered on the bridge in the 200 block of Ridge Ave. on Sept. 15 at 12:56 p.m.

Robbery - Strongarm

A victim was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash in the 1700 block of Darrow Ave. on Sept. 14 at 10:55 p.m. The unknown offender demanded the victim's money, and is described as a black male.

Shots Fired/Individual(s) With a Gun

Emergency calls on Sept. 15 at 11:13 p.m. reported shots fired at Case and Custer Ave. Callers reported hearing six shots, but when police checked the area nothing was found. 

Emergency calls on Sept. 16 at 9:36 p.m. reported shots fired at Mulford and Ridge Rd. Callers reported hearing five shots but when police checked the area nothing was found. 

Simple Battery

An unknown offender spit on a victim in a 2009 Saab at Chicago and Main on Sept. 15 at 7:01 p.m. The offender is described as a white male, standing six feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. 

Theft Over $500

A gold necklace with two gold charms, a cross and a Kindle with a purple cover were stolen from an apartment in the 1000 block of Main St. sometime between July 14 and Sept. 15. The unknown offender is described as a black male.

An Apple iPad was stolen from a private residence in the 2500 block of Lawndale Ave. sometime between July 15 and Sept. 14. 

An Apple silver laptop and ten cell phones were stolen from a business located in the 300 block of Howard st. on Sept. 14 at 10:30 a.m. The victim reported the items were taken from behind the counter, and the offender is described as a white male, standing five foot ten inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. 

Theft Under $500

A Cypress black leather bike seat was stolen from a common area in an apartment/condo complex located in the 800 block of Custer Ave. on Sept. 15. at 11 a.m. 

A Kate Spade purple wallet with its contents were stolen from a locked locker in the 1000 block of Grove St. on Sept. 15 at 6:20 p.m. 

A Fossil wallet with its contents were stolen from school grounds in the 1600 block of Dodge Ave. Sept. 13 between 12:42 p.m. and 3 p.m. The unknown offender removed the wallet from the victim's backpack. 

A Schwinn dark gray bicycle was stolen from a bike storage rack in the 1800 block of Central St. Sept. 14 at 6:38 p.m. The bike was reportedly locked at the time of the theft. 

A Huffy blue mountain bike was stolen froma bike storage rack in the 1800 block of Sherman Ave. September 15 at 7 p.m. The bike was reportedly locked at the time of the theft.
