Thieves Distract Employee, Steal Her Purse

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Thieves Distract Employee, Steal Purse

Two men distracted an employee in the 800 block of Clark Street while another stole her Lululemon purse around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, according to police.

Woman Charged With Trying to Fill Fake Prescription

Mariam E. Jaji, 32, of the 4600 block of Keeney in Skokie, was arrested and charged with attempted unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Target, 2209 Howard St., after she tried to fill a fake prescription for 120 pills of Narco, a painkiller, police said.

Burglars Steal Laptop Computer, Tools

Someone entered an unlocked apartment in the 600 block of Sheridan Square between 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, and 4:19 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, and stole a black Toshiba laptop computer, according to police.

Someone stole tools from a 2000 Ford parked in the 1900 block of Greenleaf Street between 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, and 2:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, police reported.

Car Burglaries On Washington, Dewey, Custer

Someone forced open the door of a 2005 Chevrolet parked in the 1600 block of Washington Street between 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, and 4:19 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, according to police.

Someone entered a Honda parked in a lot in the 2000 block of Dewey Avenue between 5:35 and 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, police reported.

Someone stole a bag from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 100 block of Custer Avenue between 10:35 and 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, police reported.

Bikes Stolen On Elmwood, Ridge, Noyes, Sherman

Someone stole an 18-inch boys Trek bicycle that was left unlocked in a yard in the 1100 block of Elmwood Avenue between 11 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, and 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, police reported.

Someone stole a red and black men’s Giant bicycle that was locked to a storage rack in the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, police reported.

Someone stole a 26-inch Carlton men’s bike that was left unlocked in an apartment or condo common area in the 1000 block of Noyes Street between 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, and 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, according to police.

Someone stole a grey and red Raleigh bicycle with a rack that was left unlocked in  the 1700  block of Sherman Avenue between 4:15 and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, according to police.

Party Equipment Stolen On Central

Someone stole five tables, nine table clothes, one tray and three 100-quart ice chests from a golf course in the 1000 block of Central Street between Aug. 12 and 13, according to polic.

Thief Steals Cell Phone On Judson, Ridge

Someone stole an Apple cell phone that was left unattended in an apartment or condo common area in the 800 block of Judson Avenue between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 27, according to police.

Someone stole an LG cell phone that was left unattended in a park in the 2100 block of Ridge Avenue between 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, police reported.

Woman Steals Prescription Pad, Supplies From Medical Office

A woman stole a prescription pad and medical supplies from a medical office in the 800 block of Austin Street between 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, and 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, police reported.

Block Horse Stolen On Pioneer

Someone stole a white and orange three block horse from the 2200 block of Pioneer Road between 10:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, and 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, according to police.

Men Start Fire in Trashcan

Five men started a fire in a garbage can in the 600 block of Brummel Street at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, police reported.
