Two ETHS Students Charged in Cell Phone Robberies

The students approached victims in the hallways of ETHS.

Evanston police have charged two Evanston Township High School students with strong arm robbery after they allegedly robbed students of their phones in the halls of the school.

Both robbery incidents occurred on May 11, and in both cases police said the suspects pushed students to the ground and demanded their phones.

The first incident occurred at 10:20 a.m., when the two offenders approached a student as he was opening his locker.

"One of the offenders placed his arm around the student victim's neck and then pushed him to the hallway floor. The offender then stated 'let me get that phone.' The victim refused and this is when the offender went into his pockets and removed an Apple iPhone," police said in a statement.

In the second incident, which occurred at 3:30 p.m., the offenders approached two students who were walking in the hallway.

"According to both student victims, the offenders came from behind, pushed them against the wall, causing them to fall to the floor. At this time one of the offenders stated 'give me that cell phone.' Both the offenders then proceeded to go into the pockets of both student victims and take their cell phones," police said.

Eighteen-year-old ETHS students Levertis C.P. Williams and Julian Emerson Hutchinson were both charged with two felony counts of strong arm robbery. Their court date has been set for June 14 in Skokie.
