Two men were shot Sunday night in Evanston’s 5th Ward in an incident police are calling “not a random act”.
Evanston Police said that a 20-year-old Evanston man and a 21-year-old Des Plaines man were shot at approximately 7:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of Lyons Street. While one victim was found near the location of the shooting, the other man ran two blocks south to the 1600 block of Dodge Avenue.
Police have identified a possible offender but have no one in their custody as of yet, said Evanston police spokesperson Cmdr. Jay Parrott on Monday morning. In a Sunday night press release, police said the shooting victims were known to the offender.
The Evanston man was reportedly shot in the back and taken to Evanston Hospital, where he remained in fair condition on Sunday night, police said.
The Des Plaines man was reportedly shot in the knee and also taken to Evanston hospital. He was listed in good condition, according to a police press release.
As of Monday morning, Evanston police did not know whether either victim had been released.
